I live in a very light polluted city, the only way I can browse the stars is to use these binoculars otherwise I'm nearly completely blocked off from the sky. These binoculars brought back my love for astronomy :) the customer service was great and gave me back a very quick response. The first night I tested this out on Jupiter and Saturn, Jupiter looked like a bright star while Saturn you could actually notice the rings, this pair is best for stargazing, viewing nebula and star clusters. When I received this product the velcrow in the back came pre ripped out and soon after one of the zippers ripped right off but we didn't buy the binoculars for the bag.
My Barskas arrived within the expected time of delivery to Melbourne, Australia. I was kept informed of delivery process and I will be a returning customer when searching for a possible purchase, Postage and handling to here were much more reasonable from another firm. They arrived in good order. They are lighter than I expected, and are able to be used by hand for short viewing that does not require total stability, e.g bird watching. However they are intended for use with a tripod and for astronomical viewing that is best. They appear robust enough, despite their lightness. I haven't had binoculars of this size before but on use they appeared to be adequately collimated, with minimal chromatic distortion, Able to use with glasses. Focus, joins and lens were firm but not too firm' I viewed Jupiter and its disk and moons were observable, but was unable to distinguish any banding. I have a 4 1/2" reflector telescope and the image was comparable, but very slightly smaller. I am still awaiting really good viewing sky and hope to be able to make out the bands. A fuller test awaits but thus far I would be happy to recommend them as a value purchase of good quality.
