I really love this set. Does it take forever? SURE! But... here's what I did: After its arrival, my best friend and I used bedtime, and our massive garage, to lay everything out. Very first step? Print the PDF version (found online) of the manual, page by page. I just printed the actual steps pages, and not all the rest. So, use your "print pages" option to save yourself a few trees. Next, I purchased fold top, cheap sandwich bags and had a couple sharpies handy. Then we opened the boxes, and pulled the packing slips out (one box was missing a packing slip, so we just used process of elimination). There is no rhyme or reason for how this all is packed, other than it fits perfectly, into 3 boxes, like a puzzle. The steps have you put together big items first (monkey bars, swing set assembly, rock wall, rear ladder, crow's nest base and slide). Then, it goes on to step by step for how to build the clubhouse. After the main structure is together, you attach all the things. We took the first page(s) and found all of the items needed to construct the first big item. We laid them all into a pile, found all of the nuts/bolts/locks/etc and put them into individual baggies (clearly labeled). We piled them all together, and put the corresponding papers on top of it. Then to the next large piece's parts and pages... and the next, and the next. Soon, all of the main items were placed into piles, with every piece of wood and hardware, with the pages that told you how to construct them, laying on top. Next, we got to the instructions for each step of the main structure/clubhouse. Since you can't really "group" them together, we literally went page by page. Each page has what wood pieces and hardware are needed, listed on the top. Some piles had 1 piece of wood, and a bolt or two... some piles had MULTIPLE. (Oh... each baggie, with hardware, I would write something like "monkey bars - bolt # and what size/quantity"... just look at the photos for all of these examples, cause I don't want to explain it wrong). But, we just went page by page. Laying it all out, in order. This took us 2 nights... just the two of us (and a few adult beverages). Here was my thought process... I had myself, my husband, and 2 other couples, willing to come over and help FOR ONE SATURDAY. What I didn't want? One single book, being passed around, people looking for things, using wrong pieces, losing things, etc. If I had them for a day, I needed to make the MOST of it. It totally worked! It was the most methodical madness...ever. All the comments from friends were "I'm so glad you had this all so organized!" They all came over Saturday morning. They brought their drills and bits (and coffee). We got started right away (about 11AM). Each couple grabbed one of the larger item piles, and put together whatever it was (my one piece of advice? Pay attention to the slide... bolting the wood to the bottom? You need to leave a little slide at the end. The piece of wood doesn't sit flush with the end of the slide. I missed this. Thankfully, a friend had a good idea with how to fix it, without making more holes in the slide... thank you, friend!). After all of the items were constructed, we set them in the front yard. It was now on to constructing the clubhouse. This part was harder to work with all 6 hands. But, some were working, and others were grabbing items/tools/instructions/etc. We decided to build most of the clubhouse on the driveway, for a level surface, and easy access to all of the steps, that were still laid out in the garage. Once we got to a point that we felt we should move it, we brought it down (again, refer to photos). From there, we had people bringing each step down, and crews alternating working on the rest of the steps (it was pretty hot that day, so the switching off was nice). But, it was great to have some extra company and encouragement. ;) Toward the end, we had all the crews connecting the big items, simultaneously, and the lone man up in the crow's nest (that thing is seriously the most time consuming part of it all). While they were finishing all the last details, I ran to Home Depot, and picked up 15 50lb bags of play sand. I think we wound up only using 12-13 bags, for all of you wondering. By 7PM, every last item was done, the sandbox was filled, and the kids were having a blast. Later, we got some 5" edging, and edged out an irregular shape, around the play set. It took about 6 yards of play bark to fill it with a few inches (makes my mama heart feel better, in case anyone falls off). All in all, I'm estimating it took about as long to lay out the parts as it did to put it together. However... it was completely worth it. I would NOT do it any other way. Nothing was lost, broken, installed wrong (except ALMOST the bottom board of the slide). A few pieces were a little warped.. but none were broken. This is WOOD. Not every piece will be perfect. Do I regret this purchase? Absolutely not! My kids are like "can we go out and play on our park, before dinner?" They love it. They are 3.5 and 2, and play just great on it. It is PLENTY tall. Adults can fit... even up in the crow's nest. Can I stand up, completely (I'm 5'11")? No. But we have older children come play on it, and no child has been "too big" for it, yet. I think the oldest child we had was like 10.5? Perhaps older. The slide is long... even I get going a little bit on it. Before I added the wood chips, I could dangle from the monkey bars (there are 4 bars), without touching the ground. With wood chips, I just barely have to pick up my feet. The girls are too small to do the monkey bars alone. I've seen some people block off the entrance to it, on the club house, and leave them off altogether, but my kids don't attempt without us, so we opted to leave it on, for their older friends/cousins. They learned to do the rock wall quickly, and love it. They eat on the picnic table a lot. Downfall? Their friends can NOT keep the sand in the sandbox. I'm debating constructing something that keeps it closed, so those friends can't get into it... I HATE cleaning up the sand from the lower deck. The seesaw swing is awesome, since the girls aren't big enough to "pump" on a normal swing really well, yet. They get going on that double swing like crazy, so I don't always have to be out to push them on the other 2. The telescope is fun. It isn't magnified, or anything, but nobody has complained. I can see us getting MANY years of good use out of this. I'm so happy I didn't get a smaller set. Truly... for the price, you get SO many options for them to play on, and kids of all sizes can fit. It is very very sturdy, and looks beautiful in the yard.

My friends all have Swing-Set Envy after seeing my Backyard Discovery Skyfort II set up. It is well made, has lots of play options and the Skyfort itself is tall and large enough for several children to maneuver inside it at a time. The crows nest is an added bonus and really affords a fun view of the whole backyard.

This is a great looking playset when all put together! Install took me about 24-26 hours total mainly by myself except for the monkey bars and swing side. Pros: -I'd give the build quality and lumber quality a 8.5/10. Few pieces were cracked, and the set does creek around a bit. I'm anticipating the creeks to stop once it settles for a few weeks. -My two boys love it! Cons: -The lookout area is quite small and difficult to fit through when assembling (I'm 6'0" and 195 lbs) -A few points in the instructions weren't too clear and wound up requiring a little re-work because they don't tell you consistently if pieces need to be flush or not. Install advice: Lay out all the wood in order by letter outside of the boxes or you'll spend half your time just searching for pieces. Otherwise, the instructions are easy to follow and it goes together like a big adult lego kit :)

I ordered this as a combination Christmas/birthday gift for our granddaughter (yes a big purchase but hoping for years of fun times for her and her future siblings and cousins!). It took 4 men an entire weekend (8-10 hours Saturday and Sunday) to assemble most of it last weekend. They have maybe an hour or two left to complete it, but rain has been non stop, so we will see. It seems very well made and sturdy, and we are very pleased we chose this set over others.... Swings, monkey bars, fort, balcony with lookout, climbing wall.... It had everything we wanted when we were researching play sets. The stamps on the different pieces were difficult to read and would have bee easier to read if they were larger and not so faint, but other than that we have no complaints and are so happy we purchased this set!! We are certain that it will hold up for years ahead!

Great playset! It is the perfect size for the kids and it has so many fun play options between the rock wall, monkey bars, swings, slide, clubhouse, lookout, and picnic table. My kids and their friends have played in it for hours and hours this summer. Set up took about a week between two adults and busy life schedules. What helped us with a successful set up was to take everything out of the four boxes and organize the wood by letter and number. Once all the wood was pulled out and organized, we then organized further by separating the wood, and bolts/screws by instruction booklet step number. We put the bolts/screws in a plastic baggy right next to all the wood in order from the first step down to the last. When we turned the page to a new step we already had a pile of wood and screws that were already set aside and easy to grab for the install. If you pay meticulous attention to the wood and pre-drilled pilot holes you can’t go wrong. The instructions are pretty easy to follow. We did have a few boards where the pilot holes weren’t drilled in the right location and we would then need to drill our own pilot a couple inches to the left, right, up or down. I was disappointed in this, when the pilot holes were off everything had to slow down. Most of the wood planks were in great condition but some were a little warped, or had splinters breaking off. Overall, set-up was fun!! We made it a family activity and let the kids hammer or screw in a few nails/bolts/screws. There were a lot of late nights working until the light was gone but it only took us about a week and once it’s over you forget about the pain, it’s kind of like labor in that way. Overall, it was well worth the money. Our kids love it and we love it! It’s held up against the weather and sprinklers so far, but I’m sure that we might have to sand and stain it every few years. What a fun playhouse!!

I love this set. The delivery was scheduled ahead it took about 3 weeks. The guy that delivered but it inside my garage. I have read so many reviews of how hard it is to put together so I hired a company that came and set it up for me, it took the guy (3 of them) a day and a half. He told me this is one of the best swing set that is out there. My kids 4 and 5 run outside and were screaming with excitement. They play in it everyday along with a bunch of kids in our neighborhood.

I read a lot of reviews on this product and most of them were about the construction. I will admit, it was difficult as there were many different sizes of hardware. It would have been better if they used 1 or 2 different sizes of hardware instead of 8. It was difficult to put together if you don't know what you are doing and cannot improvise. It is also not cedar, but it is very sturdy and can hold my weight and my wife's weight without feeling unsafe. I manged to put it together in time for my daughter's birthday party and there were about ten 6-10 years old playing at one time. With that said, I want to let everyone know that my daughter loves this play set. She said it is like having her own park in her backyard. Her friends love it as well, they come over and spend a lot of time out there. I would recommend this product to any family who are willing to put in the time for construction (approximately 24 to 36 hours of build time.) We are having fun with it. I would also recommend that you seal it with a weather sealant as it does not come sealed.

This is the perfect backyard swing set. The set is very sturdy once anchored into the ground and the directions are very clear for someone who is handy. The night that we had this delivered my husband and I took everything out of the boxes to make sure we had all the pieces that we needed. We were so glad that we did because we were missing several pieces. I was more than a little worried because we had several people who had already committed to giving up their weekend to help us install this. I called up overstock right away and their customer service is honestly the best I have ever dealt with. They weren't sure if they would be able to help me get the missing pieces that I needed in time so they told me to order them through the swing set manufacturer and they would credit me the amount. No need to do that though because I called the swing set manufacturer and they took care of everything and even overnighted the parts I needed to me at no additional cost. A few helpful tips... 1. Check that you have every piece that instructions call for. (Hardware too!) 2. Level the ground you plan on putting this on. We anchored our corners onto thin cement slabs so ensure that the entire swing set was level in our backyard. 3. Put together as much as you can because you start the project. We assembled our ladder, rock wall, and other small pieces in our garage before starting this project. 4. Pick a nice weekend because you will be outside for 2 full days. 5. Check out the youtube videos of others putting this together. All in all, I will only ever buy a swingset from Overstock simply because of how amazing their customer service is! This is a great buy that you will no regret! Our 4 and 2 year old girls love it!

Really nice swingset. First day I invited the whole family over, 3 guys, and 3 girls and spent about 5 hours on it. Then about 3 more hours on another night with 2 guys, then the last day about 2 hours by myself. We are pretty handy, but it went up just as instructed. Kids love it and it actually looks really nice in the yard. The boxes are very intimidating but everything was marked and numbered and went together without a hassle. I would recommend it. The best way to get this done: get a pack of plastic wine cups. The manual breaks everything down by sections. Go step by step, and gather all the wood pieces from the boxes, and use the plastic cups to organize all your screws and hardware needed for that step. Print out several instruction manuals so other people can work on other sections while you work. Each of the 4 boxes details what pieces will be found in that box. I gathered all the pieces for the rock wall, and placed them off to the side, then the ladder, the slide, then the monkey bars, then the swingset beam, then the crows nest, then the main tower. Once all those pieces are together, just attach them and you're done. Good luck!

Ahh it's nice once it's done pain in the butt to put together some of the boards are warped someone needs to check quality control be careful with the roof it's a little tricky with the gapping but don't think you've done it wrong there's sappised to be a bigger gap on one side also some of the screws refused to go all the way through some of the wood but all in all the kids love it it looks nice so I'm happy

Beautiful!! My seven year old son and his friends love this “fort”! I was worried he’d outgrow it quickly but it’s huge inside. My husband is 6’2 and can stand up inside. The crow’s nest is a ton of fun for them and the quality is really good. It took my husband and I about two weeks to put it together working on it about 2-3 hours a night/day. Directions were easy to follow and the pieces were well marked. Highly recommend!

Smaller than what it appears in pictures. It shipped in several boxes. The delivery guy threw the boxes into the driveway, which is probably why 2 of the board were broken. Called customer service and they were awesome about getting the boards replaced. Shipped them extremely fast. Overall, very happy with this.

AMAZING!! My boys absolutely love it! It does take quite a bit of time to set up, but it is well worth it. The wood is weather treated, so you don't have to worry about it as the seasons change.

This is a good playground with lots of features. However there are allot of places where the predrilled holes don't line up and some hardware was missing.

This is a great playset. It is a lengthy process to put together, but doable. It is strong and very sturdy. We had a few pieces that were cracked, but some wood glue and clamps fixed it up. Note - if you want to store things inside of the play house, the roof is not sealed. We added some features prevent water coming in from the roof.

This is A LOT of work to put together yourself. It is however, very organized and a step by step project. It took my husband and myself multiple days to put together. The sorting of boards and organizing step by step for each piece of the process make it easier for us to accomplish. If you take this on yourself, buy a big box of baggies and separate the needed hardware for each step and the boards needed as well. Make sure you have a cordless screw driver with boost as well. My grandchildren absolutely LOVE it, and I have no doubt it will be a asset to our yard for years to come. I will say there were a few boards that appeared slightly split and a few boards that had slight gouges in them, which is the only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating, along with the cheap plastic "telescope" that flops when perched on the crow's nest. Otherwise, this is a bit pricey, but an enjoyable "playground".

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"What is the height of the slide? Would it be possible to change the slide to a tube slide? "

      • A:

The slide height is 5 feet from the ground to the play deck it attaches to. The slide itself is 10 feet slide in length. No changing of the slide is not an option.

    • Q:

"Is it possible to install this set without the monkey bars, without compromising overall stability?"

      • A:

That would void the warranty and would compromise the safety.

      • A:

The set must be installed as directed to assure that safety is built in. Any modifications will void the warranty

    • Q:

"How is the swing set anchored into the ground? Are there "stakes" or is it recommended to have concrete footings? Also, would it be wise or possible to add some kind of wood treatment to it to help preserve the wood a bit better?"

      • A:

Previous sets I've had like these include anchors that attach to the bottom supports of the playset and driven into the ground. I imagine that is the case with this (still waiting for mine to be delivered). As for protection, I spray a clear rubberized membrane (aerosol spray) over any wood contacting the ground and apply Exterior Sealer (Thompson's WaterSeal Cedar Stain) to preserve the wood and protect from sun damage. Or you can apply a Solid Stain if you want to change the look which can last 15-20 years depending on locale.

    • Q:

"What is the square footage around the whole thing once it is assembled?Trying to look into rubber matting for under it to stop weeds and lawn maintenance from getting hard to keep up with."

      • A:

The playset itself covers about 374 square feet. However the manufacturer recommends a "safe play zone" of about 986 square feet, this gives you a 6 foot buffer on each side of the playset.

    • Q:

"Can the boxes fit into a caravan with the all the seats down? There is not indication of the box size."

      • A:

no, it would not fit inside even with the seats down. I would have to say they were at least 7 feet tall.

    • Q:

"On the picture, when standing at the base of the slide, the monkey bars are to the left and the swings to the right. Can these be reversed with the monkey bars installed to the right and the swings to the left?"

      • A:

We do not suggest switching the configuration of the components. Our swing sets are designed to meet ASTM standards, and changing the configuration could effect how stability and how safe it is for your child to play on since we have not tested the set with that configuration.

    • Q:

"Can you add play kitchen sink. And a walking ramp "

      • A:

You can add anything you want. Mine does not look anything like the picture it has a second tower across from the one provided with a bridge made from 3 4" x 8" x 12' beams. I then put on a tic tac toe board. a big net swing under the second deck, replaced the glider with a disk swing. I must say though building your own stuff it MUCH easier then what they provide.

      • A:

There is room inside (or underneath) for a kitchen. Because it is wood it is easy to add a walking ramp or anything you want.
