This present was a bit of a gamble because neither of my daughters had it on their wish list. For that reason, I only bought one. The daughter who received it gave me a look when she opened it, like she wasn't sure what to think. But once she tried it, her sister and even her brother wanted to use it. We have not used the colored pencils that came with it because we have nice colored pencils in a greater variety of colors that the children already use for their art projects. The carrying case is...weird. I have tried putting the plates away in it and I honestly don't think they have assigned spots. You just have to jam them in anywhere they fit, some sideways, and it feels like the whole case is about to bust open at any moment. Not sure who designed the case or why, or if their design got downgraded by production or something? It's borderline ineffective for the purpose for which it was intended. Otherwise, I love the set. I really, honestly and truly wish there were some male figures, even in an add-on set, because my son loves the concept but he's not so into the pretty dresses thing, and even the sports add-on pack is all girly stuff, ballerinas and the like. Overall, I'm happy with it, and the kids enjoy it. I just wish the designers had put more thought into the case and gender equity.
