This is the second ceramic pet water fountain we've had. This one has a modern clean white look. Does not show water calcium and mineral buildup. Runs great, many say its difficult to clean, but it's no more difficult then other water fountains. Negatives: If your looking for something quiet, this is not it. This has a constant light water pour, keeping it full reduces noise, as the water level drops it sounds louder. Not good for large dogs. The bowl is not very wide, primarily made for small dogs and cats.
I have had the white Ceramic Pagoda Pet fountain for over 3 years and I love it. It stays clean longer if you only use filtered water (NOT distilled --which is very bad for pets or people to drink). You can use one of several types of filter pitcher to fill your fountain, and suing filtered water means that you can go longer without having to clean the fountain, and your filters last longer. This fountain is so elegant that I keep it on a wide stone window-sill where I can enjoy looking at it in the kitchen (but not where sunlight strikes it, as this will encourage algae; which is harmless but not sightly.) Sometimes I float a (non-toxic!) flower like a pink on the water, which the cat enjoys watching or pulling out just for fun. I only leave the flower in a few hours so as not to let the stem start to rot. The Cat loves the whole idea.
This fountain seems perfect for supplying flowing water for cats. Mine have always preferred fountains over bowls and this one is just right. The filter is a great idea and the size is large enough for 2 cats to use. The attractive red and white pagoda style looks great under a small console table. Was glad I bought this.
I have five Pomeranians. One of them in particularly is a male with a big thirst. He use to drink all the bowls dry and you had to keep refilling them(it seemed like a million times)all through the day. My dogs appear to enjoy the water from this fountain. What I appreciate is that the water is circulating. The water reservoir holds enough water that I can feel comfortable in leaving my dogs home alone for several hours. Even though I use filtered water for there bowl, I like that it to has a filter. When I received it, I set it up immediately. The dogs all took to it right away. There was no training time involved. There is a sound of water trickling, but it is really a white noise and not disturbing. In fact some people might find it soothing as it sounds somewhat like a babbling brook. This fountain was just what the "Doctor" ordered.
