This is a very nice enclosure that is sturdy and very secure for our pet. I can put him in it with no worries at all about him getting out or something getting to him. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the assembly was not as easy as it could have been. None of the pieces/panels are labeled with a number or letter. For example, the directions for the wire part say "assemble the top and bottom pieces". There are about 12-15 pieces and they all look very much alike with only slight differences -- some have dowels, or two sets of dowels, some have insertion holes and others don't. You really have to look closely and be sure you are getting the right piece. If the pieces were properly labeled - attach section 1 to 2, 3 to 4, etc, it could have gone so much smoother/faster. It was frustrating; it was, literally, like a puzzle. Two dowels were missing from one of the panels and my husband was able to make some himself because he keeps things like that on hand in our garage. If he didn't, we would have had a real problem. My advice for anyone interested in this enclosure is to get one, definitely. But, be certain you have someone who is handy with things like this to help you assemble it.

Cats need a bit more freedom that being put in a cage/enclosure.....my cats cried SOOOO we fixed it...my hubby made a caged cat walkway that connected from our bedroom window to the enclosure...now the cats are free to go in and out as they please they are MUCH HAPPIER and so am it. We added pots w/ grass and cat nip plants. We also hung a bird/squirrel feeder above the enclosure. Part of the enclosure came broke but it was an easy fix. Yay freedom!!

It take about 2 hours to put together. There were only a few things that make it a little challenging..the instructions are not that clear in a few areas. Some of the pieces are not marked with numbers and we ran into knots in the wood screwing it together. So we f your not in a hurry most people can figure it out. When done it’s a pretty protective place for your outdoor cats. It looks great. We leave the little side door open so they can come and go. I would recommend this for your out door cats.

  • Not bad for the money
    Verified Purchase

Materials seem a bit cheap and some parts came broken; however, the company did replace those parts without hoops or questions. The numbering on the parts was wrong, according to my husband who constructed it. Left him having to take things apart and reassemble. I wish there was a way of hooking back the little house door so it didn't just flap open. Will probably try to devise something. Lock bolt is difficult at times. Overall, smaller than I hoped for. Cats like it to a point, one more than the other two, but are not thrilled beyond an hour or two. Wish it was larger. Wish it was made to attach to the other Trixie cat house we purchased at the same time. That would help the size issue. Right now, have them side by side. Overall though, it's something for the cats, allowing them a bit of an outing. The units I really like are in the thousands, so this one seems economical and not bad for the money. Assembly time was between about 6 to 8 hours which my husband was able to complete in segments. Does help to put in toys, blankets, and sandbox to keep the kitties happy. They do seem to prefer the other Trixie unit over this one. Not sure why, maybe the ledges. I like the house thing in the back which looks like fun; however, it blocks the view of the cats if looking from the back. The other unit is more open. Post script a few months following: My cats do prefer this unit to the other one, presumably because of the hide boxes. However, it's not rain proof at all, other than in the boxes, so any cat trees or whatever in the main area is subject to getting wet. It's quite narrow in terms of getting to the back and changing sandboxes, etc. And the locks/hooks on both units are really cheap and break easily. The whole door is warping badly, and the cats are almost able to dig under. I have ended up using both units a lot to give some outdoor time to inside cats which is a positive. I wish I could have afforded something better and bigger.

  • Pretty Good
    Verified Purchase

The Trixie wooden outdoor cat run is pretty solid once it is set up. The directions are AWFUL!!!!!! One of the steps had the wrong panel number to use. And one of the steps just listed 4 panels to put together, but did not give more detailed information on which ones went together. And one of the panel numbers is wrong on that step too. You really have to set everything out and look at the directions, then figure out for yourself how it is suppose together. It does not detail what panels should have dowels and which way they should be facing. Make sure to have dowels sticking out on the top side panels for the roof to go on. So far this has been good as far as staying up. My cats will not go up the ramp. It is steep and rough. I am going to attach some small pieces of wood to it so they can climb on those. I expected better directions for the money spent on this item. If I had to do this over again, I would have not paid this much for this item.

The quality of this run is a five on a one to ten scale. The pieces do not join together very well leaving gaps and misalignment. The ramp had a bent metal connector which left the end of the wood damaged. It is hanging in there ok but is loose. There should be some ID of the various pieces as I am not anywhere near being a construction expert and they were screwed in and moved and re-screwed a few times before it was right. I am donating it to a local cat rescue group.

Very good quality materials. Husband said he could not construct it himself for that price. Had a little trouble putting screen panels together, would help to have intructions with more detail. We did attach it to the house, so the cat can go in and out at will, but I can also close the little door on the side to keep her in the house. We love it! But more importantly our cat love, love ,loves it !!!!!

  • My cats LOVE this!!!

We are transitioning to our new home and my cats are staying with us in our temporary apartment. We needed a place to keep them safe outside while our home showed and a place to home them in the winter month (they go to bed at night inside the garage. This thing exceeds every expectation we had. many home lookers were very impressed and wanted to know where we got it! They were more interested in our kitty condo that our home...LOL Best purchase ever, went together very well! Kitty heaven! Lots of nooks and crannies inside the two upper levels to snuggle into. Peek a boo doors and plenty of space for litter box and food bowls.

Perfect! It came in easy to put together pieces and our 3 cats love it and they love being outdoors now. It is super warm inside perfect for the cold nights and great for bad weather too! A couple of the pieces were damaged but did not affect the building at all.

  • Good for kittens. Not for an older cat.

Note that the photos show only small kittens. It's great for them. But an adult cat has to crawl to get through the very small doorway. The ramp is also very steep.

  • Great
    Verified Purchase

Anyone with indoor cats that want some environmental stimulation for their kittys can build this. Its compact and will fit almost anywhere! I call it a cat condo, it has shelter from wind/rain and sun windows and ramps. Takes a few hours to make. And the door is kind of small. You have to find a way to close the gate from the inside if you go in with your cats (and be 5'6" or shorter to stand up inside).

I am using this inside a large room at a rescue. This is perfect for keeping new cats brought into the rescue separated from the other cats until they can be tested by a veterinarian to make sure they are healthy as to not infect the other cats. Also I use this for mother cats with kittens so they have privacy and are safe from other cats at the rescue. I did have to place a wood board across the top because the wire kept giving and I tried repairing numerous times, but other than that, this has been a God send.

some of the wood pieces where cracked and the holes didn't line up well. Its not very good quality of wood. I am hoping it will last at least a few years but I doubt it.

loved this, could put 2 cats outside for as long as they wanted to stay, it lasted about 3-4 yrs, with some healthy size cats climbing around inside, and some big ole coons climbing on the outside trying to get to the food, it was a pain to put together, not marked very well.

We purchased this for our stud cat. Instantly fell in love with the door, enclosed house features. While this is great in theory, this is not something made to last. The drill holes did not match up in several walls, wring popped loose while putting together and had to be re-stapled.Several walls were warped and had to be forced into place. We made it work, but for the price we paid, we would expect pieces to fit together properly.
