It is made very well, but I'm not sure it gets warm enough to do much in a chicken coop or brooder. I think the only way it would warm a chicken is if they actually sat *on* it, but I wouldn't want them pooping (or scratching) all over it because you cannot submerge it in water to clean it. I had hoped to mount it in a brooder for chicks, but I just don't think it will be warm enough for a brooder - it would probably work well during the heat of summer, though. On the plus side, my barn cat loves it! :D
My bunny loves this item. She doesnt go inside as she is a larger bunny, like a small dog almost. But she loves to sit on top. We put snacks inside so she has to kida of work for them which my vet says is good for her brain. Keeps her entertained. The only thing is, as it is wood. She chews on it. Which is standard for about everything. (Bunny is no longer allowed near the piano) Also because it is wood, as bunnies tend only to relieve themselves in one corner. We learned very fast that if put near that corner, the bottom starts to rot as she enjoys peeing on it for some reason. Moving that awayfrom her relief spot solves that problem though. Other than the abuse my bunny puts on the item, it is wonderful!
This tunnel was a pleasant surprise from the packaging. My babies don't stay in it long because they're too busy running through. It would be cozy if they wanted too.
