First of I have been looking for rabbit hutches for about 4-5 months and for all the research I have conducted, on PRICE, SIZE, RATINGS, (people can cheat, but this one had a few very detailed, numbered review that actually assisted in my purchase, so it does help to read the reviews!), DESIGN, and QUALITY (they are almost all made out of "fir wood"), and this has the two LARGE SOLID PLASTIC FLOOR TRAYS, hint: waterproof flooring! Won't soil the wood in ANY WAY on the top floor! The Price; I am not kidding when I say OVERSTOCK had the BEST price! Don't take my word for it, check! What is so nice about this hutch is the space! It actually has on the top level, a " front room" that you CAN SEE from the picture, and a back "private" room, that you can NOT see from the picture. I actually found a site that had a few more pictures, it was like from England, I think, because it wasn't in US dollars, but it had back room photo views!! (I found, stumbled across it by accident) But the back private room is smaller that the front "room, with a view". Downstairs, is nice and big and wide open, and does not have a floor, /it's open to the bottom. Thank you to whoever the reviewer was that said to build a plywood base with caster wheels! GREAT ADVICE, so it can be moved, once it's built!! I actually glued a piece of leftover kitchen floor covering on top of the plywood base, so it would remain waterproof (our rabbit, uses his litter box, but I did it anyway). Then I put newspaper and soft puppy pads down. Be careful putting the hutch together, as with ANY FIR WOOD, IT IS ALL PRETTY SOFT and can break if your rough with it. You will need two people to put it together, at least it so much easier, with help. I DONT recommend this hutch to be outside, and I think it would be great for two rabbits, but not really more than that (I only have one, but mine is spoiled, hence I read and reviewed A TON to get one of the best hutches on the market!!!)
I keep mine in our garage and on the sunny days, I wheel him (push holding the base, not the hutch) over to the sunny spots! When it's summer, I can bring him outside. PLEASE GET 3/4 to one inch THICK PLYWOOD !! I got 1/2 and I think I should have gotten it a bit thicker?!?! Also put caster wheels in the CENTER for support.
You are absolutely going to LOVE THIS HUTCH! Everybody that comes over and they always come through our garage, can't believe how neat Thumpers "CASTLE" TRIXIE XL HUTCH is!! oh yes, and another reviewer said to use lemon juice if your rabbit chews on the wood,,,,works PERFECTLY!! Thank you!
For the money, the size, the rabbits HAPPINESS (I did forget to mention, he is so incredible happy, once I switched him over!!) , if your going to keep the bunny for the lifetime, you should invest in this hutch, it will (don't take this lightly) actually bring YOU HAPPINESS, SEEING YOUR RABBIT SO HAPPY, running up and down the ladder all the time with excitement, besides, when i went to check out and pay Overstock for this Amazing hutch, it offered me to use the six months interest free!! Even another added bonus to feel better about it! No, but seriously, it's an incredible hutch, you will love it! Happily, Thumpers Mom
I decided I wanted to have chickens and then I ordered this adorable little chicken condo because of the fabulous price and free shipping. I knew I was in trouble when I saw the size of the boxes that arrived. As I (finally) read the small print I realized the coop was designed for 2 regular, or 4 small chickens. My mistake. I ordered 25 chickens!!!
The wood was a little flimsy but with the price I think it is a good value, and fairly easy to assemble with two people.
The items themselves are flimsy however once put together is a sturdy structure.. also it is sitting on my roofed porch. The instructions are horrible and the pcitures that illistrate how to put it together that they are worthless. The saving grace was looking at the picture of the finished product and the items being labeled. Took 2-3 hrs with breaks. I am going to weather seal it I am not sure how it would do in the rain as I just put it together this weekend but I would not trust it in the rain.
We bought this as a home for our Pygmy hedgehog inside and it's perfect. We put additional screening along the front since she is tiny. I would hesitate to put a rabbit in this, however, unless you plan on letting it out frequently. It's very dark inside which I'm sure the animals appreciate, especially my nocturnal hedgehog.
Good quality for the price
The quality is good - it arrived very timelly - but it was extremely difficult for us to put together...directions are very lacking...and the product was damaged in two places - not so bad that we couldn't use it - but unfortunate. Having said all of that, my two bunnies love their new home!
This is a nice-looking run with convenient folding structure, easy to set up, move, and stow away. The hinges that make it all work, however, have tiny screws in holes that seem to have been pre-drilled too large. Several hinges came loose as I took the cage out of the box. I have now replaced some of the hinges and all of the screws, and I am very happy with the product.
Much like The Jeffersons, Mr. Hops moved on up with this hutch.
He really likes it and it is large enough I don't feel guilty when he is lounging when I am gone during the day (is he on his covered balcony, in the burrow, or below the loft, who knows?!). This was really easy to put together, especially with an electric screwdriver--it only took an episode of Forensic Files. For the size and price, as well as free shipping, its really a good deal. Was I a bit delusional purchasing a WOODEN hutch for a ferocious bunny? Yes. I may have to reinforce some eaten wood in the future, but in the meantime I just used some anti-chew spray.
The cons aren't really that bad, more of things I overlooked.
I use this indoors, and although I have it on a piece of ugly Southwestern Art Deco linoleum, and I have the arms of an orangutan, it is impossible to clean the bottom section without physically picking it up and moving it. The door on the bottom is like a secret door for elves, and not functional for cleaning. Mr. Hops is litter trained, but there's always cardboard or stray poos when he gets zesty. I think I will put a plastic tray in, a piece of plywood and some casters to make the cleaning easy. If you are using this outside, it will probably be fine.
The only other con is the hinge snapped quicker than Lindsay Lohan's hymen. The hutch is against a door, so I don't really need it. FYI though.
Otherwise, for the money, size, shipping and easy construction, it is legit.
Bought the Precision Nantucket Chicken coop pencuz our four hens outgrew the 120Liter plastic brooder after Week 3. Very well designed pen that'll be used as future brooder & anexoansion run. We added cheap panels with predrilled screws as a floor which we can re-move/use as needed for a future brooder again. And we can use as a future expansion run on our Innovative Pet 84" coop both built up on a 6 x 2 platform for longevity and convenience. Easy access with 2 side panels along either length or width with secured panel rotating lock sets. There's also the overhead hinged access with a well designed eye clasp lock. The wood is solid, NOT soft and the hardware clothe is secured with staples that are sandwiched in by design which we need to keep the neighborhood racoons at bay from our girls. The listed dimensions of 55" x 27" x 27" are clearly not what comes in the actual box; it's 47" x 28" x 23" which is still plenty big but not as described originally in print, ymmv.
I'd buy again if needed & do recommend this AP Nantucket expansion coop Pen.
I have two rabbits that have always had their own bedroom- toys and hideouts galore, with a pet gate in the doorway. My husband and I have been making the necessary changes around the house as we are expecting our first baby. Alas, no more bunny room. I was devastated to have to take this away from them- so i searched the internet for hours to find a great hutch to keep in our office. I wanted something large and roomy- and I also didn't want to break the bank. This hutch fit the bill! The rabbits have been in their new hutch for three days now- and they absolutely love it! They use the ramp constantly to go upstairs and back down again. My husband used a staple gun to attach carpet to the ramp (on top of the shingles) because I was afraid that the rabbits would chew the shingles and get sick. The carpet works great. They do not slip and I don't have to worry about them eating shingles. I only gave 4 stars because the hutch could definitely be a bit more sturdy. I still open the doors and let them run around the office during the day, as rabbits need daily exercise and should never just be trapped in a cage. Also, you will have to take all of the pieces out of the box and let them air out for a few weeks because the chemical smell of the shingles is overpowering. Overall it is a great hutch for the price.
I really like this hutch. We have it inside at the moment for our rabbits. The only negative thing I would say is that the door latch is shared between the sleeping area door and the open area. The latch is just long enough so if you are not careful you will unlock one or the other. I like they way you can separate the rabbits in the top from the ones in the bottom if you like..
I love this rabbit hutch. I am currently using it for a cat with 3 kittens since we live in a rural area with lots of predators. It's roomy enough for them to move around and I love all the doors. Very good quality; 2 hours to assemble. Pieces were not marked so it took time to figure out with the instructions but not bad. Would definitely buy again!
The pen was relatively easy to assemble, but seemed a bit fragile once assembled. Since I really didn't want to leave it out in my yard in the Seattle rain year round, I was concerned that the pen wouldn't withstand moving it from a storage shed to outside for rabbit play purposes. I bought some metal corner brackets at the local box store and installed them on each of the corners of the pen, to provide extra structural ridigity. Seems to work well now although I still get one of the kids to help me move the pen out when it's time for rabbit play. The rabbits seem to enjoy their outside time and we don't have to be on constant guard duty against airborne threats like hawks or eagles. This pen works great for hours of rabbit play. Just monitor for bunny burrowing, and stick a box in the pen for the buns to hide in.
This hutch came faster than promised, was in excellent condition, had all of the parts necessary for assembly. I bought it as an addition to a larger coup. The color was very bright orange, which I repainted to grey to match our house. The chickens loved the extra space and play house addition to there regular coup and pen.
Hutch was easy to put together. My two bunnies love it, especially the ramp to go 'downstairs.' Do remember when moving the hutch that the ramp will break off! This happened within the first 10 minutes of having it together, which was our fault, but it is not easy to hold the ramp out of the way while you move the hutch. This caused the the screw holes to strip.
It doesn't have a wire floor, so the bunnies are running around in their own potty, but I found a fantastic solution for this - Nordic Ware (through amazon) sells a wire cookie cooling rack that is 16 x 20", for $13.50 which fits perfectly in the top left half of the hutch. It is a nonstick coated cooling rack, (so not harsh on bunny feet, plus poop doesn't stick!) and stands up about 3/4" high, which is just perfect. The rack stops about 6" short of the full length, so I put a pyrex dish in the gap with some litter in, and made that a litter pan. I'm really pleased how it all came together.
I have this hutch outside, so I put a vinyl tablecloth on top, secured with a couple of bricks, so it would hang down over the 'upstairs' when it rains. The hutch is lightweight, so we can move it around. I have mine on the deck at the moment, but if I put it down over grass, I will get a rectangular piece of chicken wire and lay it on the grass first and sit the hutch on top, so bunnies can't burrow out.
i have raised bunnies for a long time and this hutch is the best one I've found! It is sturdy and solid for the outdoors! Plus overstock has the best price compared to other stores! My bunny loves it so much, he doesn't want to come inside! I highly recommend this hutch!
This hutch was very nice quality, easy to put together (would recommend having a second person and a power drill), but it was much smaller than I anticipated. The outside dimensions listed are acceptable, but the inside was not very roomy. My poor rabbit could barely move or turn around without bumping into a wall, and he is rather small (at least I thought he was). So just be sure the animal you are buying this for is tiny or used to cramped spaces. Other than the size, it was a very nice hutch.
This product came in two boxes. I put it together on my front porch, and moved it with just two people. It wasn't heavy at all. The only problem I had was the pre drilled holes were in the wrong places for the for the supports for the big roof, I just put the latches where they were suppose to be. The only problem is that the two roost perches inside wont stay where there suppose to be, but a couple of screws should solve that problem. I know my chickens like there new home.
I bought this hutch to keep indoors, for when the temperature outside is too hot or too cold, and my two rabbits need to be inside. At the moment I am using it for them during the day, and putting them out in a larger hutch during the night. This hutch is a decent size, but not large enough for two rabbits for an extended period of time. It is tall inside, so we actually made a shelf to add some more floor space. It is super easy to clean, which I love. We open the door up sometimes and the rabbits run in and out. The wire door on the front is very difficult to open, but i have never needed to use this - we just lift the lid when we want to get the rabbits in and out. Since I have little kids, I'm glad they can't open the wire door at the front! In fact they don't even know its there. The floor space beneath the mesh is deep, deep enough for a little saucer to go beneath where the water bottle hangs, which catches the drips and they can't get to it to knock it over :) My only complaint with this being an inside hutch is that every time you lift the lid, gravel from the roofing material (its like coarse sand paper) showers down onto the floor. I have even vacuumed the roof but it did not help! I imagine this will lessen over time, as all the loose gravelly parts wear off.
I'm a pretty handy man, and I was about to build my own barn style coop. But after researching the prices for lumber and hardware (not to mention the amount of shopping and build time) I started looking at all the pre-made coops available. This coop is by far the best for the price. It is well designed and very strong. It took me less then an hour to assemble and I'm very happy with my purchase. To all of you looking for a premade coop... Pay close attention to the dimensions of all the coops available. They are all very small structures. Don't be decived by the pictures. This coop is suitable to house four or five chickens. It's quite charming and I injoyed putting it together.
We had been looking for a place to have our 16 year old cat stay in while outside. He had become arthritic and not quite the spry cat he used to be for getting away from other cats. Took awhile for him to get used to it. But he loves it now. Goes out in a.m. for a bit and a little bit in the evening. We put astroturf under it and moved it to a small covered patio for shade.
I bought this item based on some of the reviews. I have it set up in my home & it looks great. I have a mini lop & she has plenty of room to run. You could put 2 small bunnies in this cage but I think they wouldn't have enough space. Only reason I gave a 4 star was beacause the item was received damaged. Overstock took care of this issue & resent new parts
Overall, a nice rabbit hutch. It is, obviously, quite a bit more handsome than a plastic cage. I am also pleased with the second level, providing my rabbit with space to roam when she needs to be penned while still saving space in my home. Although this hutch is designed for outdoor use, I purchased a large plastic tray at a pet store to place underneath the hutch in order to bring it indoors. The largest available tray leaves a few inches around the perimeter to catch any possible messes aforementioned in previous posts. Obviously, a pre-fab hutch does not yield an entirely sturdy structure: I found a small baking sheet to wedge into the space in question in the top right to prevent my rabbit from urinating into the corner, which is not a tight seal. Perhaps creating a tight seal with a glue that would be non-toxic to bunnies (if such a thing exists) or finishing the structure off with more nails would solve this issue? Otherwise, the pull-out drawer is a nice feature and makes cleaning much easier, the plastic liner is especially helpful. One downside to the ease of cleaning (or reaching your bunny) is that there is only one door in the lower level on the front, making reaching the far right very difficult. Alternatively, the hinged roof is fantastic for cleaning and for reaching your bun. There is also a small door blocking the lower from the upper level if you desire to keep your rabbit in one level or another for cleaning, etc. The heart visible in the rear of the cage secures the door upright when not in use. I mention this because I didn't know about the door until I got it and it was all put together - nice feature. As for assembly, it took a few hours and was not overly problematic. I am very pleased with this buy, as, it would seem, is my rabbit. The price on Overstock was the lowest on the internet, it shipped in a few days, and I had no problems. I recommend this product from this retailer!

Bunny Hut for smaller bunnies
It says extra large but this is just too small for Californian Rabbits.
My rats love this cage, I have a baby in there and she can not get through the wire which is great!
Well built, nice design.
Sure fits the bill for a small and active pet. Well built, nice design.
