Tall wooden pet gate that will keep pets in or out of areas as long as they are not smart enough to figure out how to push them out of the way. My bulldog figured this out pretty quickly. She needs an attached gate or a heavy metal one. The gate looks very much as pictured, good quality for the price. It is light weight and easy to move around and will fit it a good number of spaces. It is not one you can step over unless you play for the NBA. So keep that in mind if you don't need a tall barricade.
One of the best purchases I have made. It is one of the few 'free standing' gates that you do not have to worry about falling over if you dog jumps on it. It is also very pretty & perfect for those wide open spaces. The latched gate in the middle has a double hinge, so it can be opened either way.
I had previously bought a pet screen and it was flimsy and cheap looking so I returned it. This Pet Gate is well made, heavy duty and long enough to fit even the widest opening in my home. Has a nice finish and looks like an attractive piece of furniture. Tall enough to dissuade most pets from trying to jump also.
My dog has been sleeping in her old metal crate for a couple of years, and I was really sick of looking at it in my bedroom! I did not want to pay *** or more for a wooden crate, then I saw this convertible gate for about *** . Since she's not a puppy anymore I thought she would do fine in this gate, she came in the bedroom without hesitation went straight inside. She hasn't pushed on it or chewed. The only problem that I can forsee is the wall may get dirty where she rubs against it. It's a little bit bigger than the old crate, and a lot prettier in my bedroom. PERFECT!
I currently live in an old Victorian house circa 1874 and I needed to keep the hunting beagle, the dachshund, and the Jack Russell terrier mix out of my dining room, living room, and foyer without hurting the walls and hardwood floors. I have a total of four gates, and they work beautifully and don't detract from the décor. Have gotten several compliments and inquiries about them.
I bought two of these pet gates for my laundry room and hallway. They are very heavy and look really nice. I really like that they swing closed and latch once you walk through. They are tall enough that they keep my dog contained and just short enough that my old cat can still jump over.
This is great for smaller dogs but not strong enough to keep out a big dog. We bought two and they have been very helpful in keeping our 15 lb dog out of the area where he shouldn't be. It is attractive and lightweight.
This is a nice looking wooden gate, and one of the easiest to install (even in less than perfect door openings) and remove when needed. While I find the latch mechanism pretty simple, this gate has baffled many houseguests for some reason. I liked this gate enough that when a houseguest of the canine persuasion chewed on the slats, I replaced it with the same model.
I recieved my gate in a timely manner. It is well made. I was worried at first because the doorway I'm using it in has a baseboard at the bottom, making the fit difficult, but I was able to unscrew the bottom screw, push the sides tight against the baseboard on each side and then tighten the screw until it was a firm fit, then I "fanned" the top out until it was tight against the sides of the doorway and tightened the screw till it was a tight fit as well.. This made it secure, along with cross legs, so that my pug puppy can't push it out of the way. No more sneaking into the livingroom to make a deposit for him. Thank you Overstock.
This is wonderful! Matches my wood trim and looks custom made. Best for smaller dogs as big dogs could probably jump over it. Stable and short enough I can step over without undoing it!
No holes in the wall to anchor it.
Don't let the size fool you. I purchased this gate for 2 Newfoundlands and 1 English Cocker Spainel. My newfs are 135lbs and 148 lbs. Neither one of them have tipped over the gate yet. The gate comes up to my dogs shoulder and is heavy enough not to move when they lean on it. One of them did sneak around the side where there was a small opening and got into the room but that was my fault for not pushing the side of the gate all the way up to the wall. This is a great anything gate. It can be adjusted to suit doorways. I even use it outside to block them from getting to an area of my backyard. Since I have show dogs, this gate is perfect to take to hotels. If crating is not an option, you can confine them to an area. I wouldn't purchase this gate if your dog is a giant breed and loves agility work. I am buying another one so I can have one inside and one outside. My friends that visit love it. They can see my dogs but not get slobbered on and the dogs love it because they don't realize that it's a barrier.
We needed a gate to keep our dogs out of our new addition but wanted something that would not detract from the style. We have had many compliments on this gate and it opens easily with one hand. We have a large boxer mix who is able to jump many gates but so far he has not jumped this one. The gate is also very stable and heavy. We are very pleased.
I am very pleased with these gates. I ordered two of them to block off a sleeper-sofa in my "dog room" so that the dogs couldn't climb on the sofa. I have two big dogs (60 and 75 pounds), and they have not knocked these over or jumped over them. The gates are nice-looking and easily adjustable to different sizes. The only downside is that they were a bit unstable (rocky) when I first put the feet on them (the only assembly required), so I had to add an extra screw to stabilize them (not difficult -- just required basic tools). I've been using these for about six months now, and they are working out very well. Much nicer looking than the plastic alternatives.
We have the shorter 22 inch tall version of this gate. We've had it for 5 years and love it for our small dogs but It didn't take long for our 10 pound chihuahua to jump it. We use it to block our entryway to keep the dogs from charging at the door whenever we have guests. Finally decided to go for the taller version with the door. We Love it!!! Door swings either way and you can also set it to remain open unassisted. Best feature ever is our bad boy chihuahua can no longer free willy over the gate! Nice quality and looks great!
This gate looks so much better in our living room than our previous white plastic gates. It's long enough (we bought the extension kit) to cover the large entry from the living room into the kitchen, as well as the hallway off the living room. It actually compliments the wood furnishings in the room! We do have to be careful opening the gate, as the closure mechanism isn't quite long enough to close soundly, but that's a very minor point. It keeps our two mini schnauzers off the carpet but doesn't look tacky.
We've had the opportunity to use and install the KidCo Angle Mount gate and really like it. It's easy to install, especially if you use the installation kit (not included, costs extra). Because of it's design, you can install in a location that doesn't necessarily line up straight - at a bit of an angle for example. This is a really convenient feature, as we've used other gates in the past, and because the studs in the wall don't line up perfectly from one side to the other, we could install it in a bit of an angle. The only thing that we found is that the locking cap came off easily, but I just bent back the locking clip a bit, and it now works perfectly. Also, after a bit of use, the mechanism that prevents the gate from opening in the opposite direction seems to spin a bit. It still holds in place, but with a bit of force can move out of place. We found that our older kids seemed to push it too hard when trying to latch the gate, but after showing them how to lock it properly, we no longer have this problem. What we like most about it, is that it is really light weight, and that it can easily be removed if you need to more space when moving furniture etc. Watch our video review below. This does require a bit of time putting it together, but was fairly easy. We bought 2 of these to keep a newly rescued (and not well house broken) old dog out of the living room. I tripped and fell a few times when trying to step over it, so we added a Richell opening and closing door. It is taller than this gate but works fine with it. They are good looking and serve the purpose
