I have two fairly small dogs under 25 lbs. A 20 lb Lhasa, who does have the strength to knock these down, should he choose to (and he did on the first day that I put them up), and a 10-lb miniature pinscher-jack russell mix, who has the ability to jump over these, if he would choose to do so. However after the first day (when my Lhasa tackled it running through the house not expecting it to be there), neither of my two dogs have chosen to go through the barrier when these are full opened. For these two, this is a great accomplishment!! Both are getting old (one is 11 and the other is 10) and sometimes get lazy when they are upstairs and don't want to go downstairs to go out and have tended to sneak into one of the two unused upstairs bedrooms to tinkle. These two gates have stopped this completely and they have found the option of going downstairs to ask to go outside as the path of least resistance rather than knocking down these gates. They come fully assembled and are quite pretty. I am very pleased with these.
We got this gate for our Australian Shepherd puppy, and it worked great when we were potty training him. We needed to keep him confined to a non-carpeted area. He learned to go outside very quickly, so we didn't need it long, It is very sturdy, and not hard to assemble.. Recommended.
I purchased this gate to keep my daughter's cats away from the dogs. It works perfectly. Easy to assemble. I had a fairly large opening at the top of the stairs to work with.
This is my third purchase of this type of Carlson Walk-Through Pet Gate. It is the only kind of pet gate which makes sense to use in my home, since I have two cats and a large dog. I leave open the small door to allow the cats to come and go as they please and the dog is barred from entering rooms which are off-limits. It's to assemble and operate and it stays in place. It's great!
