Our dogs really use their wall entry dog door A LOT so the product needs to be very sturdy. The attaching screws/hardware were not long enough and did not fit very well as we were replacing an older PetSafe Dog entry system. The dimensions did not match up to the old product and had to be "jury rigged." (which was fine) The dogs tore through the new entry frame after a few days and we had to adjust the installation again. Not sure what to suggest other than the product could be stronger materials.
The weather stripping is just inadequate. I try to imagine a set of conditions where this would be good enough, but there's no way this is working for anyone. You'll need to make a trip to the hardware store to seal off all of the drafts. Otherwise, the main patio flap and frame is very good quality. Should last a long time.
This door is well made, but somewhat difficult to assemble before installation. The plastic strips which connect the inside and outside panels have nothing to keep them in place while working with the assembly. The directions suggest 'taping' them! Also, it would be good if the manufacturer offered these doors in different colors, at least brown and gray. My older pets (2 cats and 1 dog) will not use the new door! Little creatures of habit! If I paint the door frame brown, I'm sure the smell of paint will make matters even worse for them.
