I'm a review hound. I analyze and research and then convince myself I don't have all the details yet... and I keep searching for reviews and re-analyze again. If you're anything like me, let me save you some time. The main complaints about this particular cat litter box from other reviewers included the following: difficulty with assembly and poor magnet quality. Additional complaints included space limitations for a large litter box, the opening to the enclosure being too small for large cats, and heaviness of the product and poor quality of materials. My husband put them together... so I can't speak for how difficult they were to assemble PERSONALLY; however, each box took him just under an hour to fully assemble... and he didn't run into any problems. The material quality is just fine - I'm not sure what the complaints are about... we have very high-end finishes in our home and this box complemented our home beautifully. I elected to NOT include the separator inside the box. This allows me space to have large high sided litter box AND space for the scooper too. The hole is plenty large enough for a large cat... so I'm not sure what that hype was all about... one of mine is a very, very big boy and he works it out. The magnets on both of my units have been fantastic - no problems/issues/concerns... again, not sure why others had an issue... both of my units have been stellar. IMPORTANT TIPS!!!!!!!!!!!! It's critical that once you have completed assembly of this unit that you get SILICONE CAULK, and on the inside of the unit, caulk ALL of the seams... all edges where the sides meet the bottom... make sure you smooth it down.... it will take a minute to do but will save you SO MUCH HEADACHE.... if you don't do this, bits of DIRTY litter will get stuck in the cracks... and you will have to literally get a toothpick to pick out the bits... a vacuum won't work... it will be a nightmare... fortunately, this didn't happen to me because I caulked... it makes cleaning the inside of the box SO SO EASY... spray, wipe down and VOILA! ANOTHER TIP... get doggie potty pads to line the bottom of the cabinet... I have two that overlap one another... this is great, because, again... makes clean up SO EASY... you'll get funk on them from the scooper and bits of litter will get on them (you can't avoid it, no matter how high the sides of your box are). FINALLY... as I mentioned before, don't use the separator... I know it sounds great... the idea of having a little compartment to store the litter, etc... but it's just not realistic... you have to give your cat a little room - plus, if you don't use the separator, you can move the actual litter box back a little from the opening.. this will allow litter from their paws to come off BEFORE they exit the unit, eliminating the amount of litter scatter outside the unit. THERE WILL BE LITTER SCATTER... so invest in a black and decker dust buster with a washable filter.... it will save your life... PS - I keep mine in the bathrooms and use flushable litter.... ZERO SMELL!
I love the finished product, but it was somewhat difficult for one person to put together. It really just blends in as furniture, no one guesses its housing a litter box until they see one of the cats pop out of the side. I was struggling to find something that both looked nice and had a large enough entrance for my one "big-boned" cat. This accommodates both and is inviting enough that both my kitties used it right away. The slide-out cupboard protector is a nice addition and easy to clean. I purchased the additional entry grate for looks, but functionally it doesn't do more than a simple mat would and it's kind of a pain to clean/empty. Overall, wish I had bought this a long time ago and avoided trying to cleverly conceal the litter box all these years.
I ordered the large mahogany one and it was relatively easy to assemble. The one drawback is the fasteners are not robust (cam-locks). I had one shear, but i sealed it with gorilla glue so no problem. It's very attractive looking and solid one assembled.
I bought ghis in mahogany and the color is just like l saw it on the screen. Easy to put toghether, the inner liner is very helpful preventing the pee to damage the wod bottom in case that the cat will pee over the litter box. l bought thought a tall back litter box and do help with peeing over the box issue. Overall very happy with the purchase, l wil buy a couple more for different locations in the house. l will tecomand this item.
