Its very supportive but after a year a washing the cover tore. I couldn't find a replacement to order so ended up buying a denim replacement from dogbed 4 less. Its not as fitted but it seems to be working. It's a shame integrity doesn't sell replacement covers and it's a waste to through out a perfectly good orthopedic bed just for a tear in the cover.

Not sure how many years ago I bought this bed... 4-5 probably. It is AMAZING. It has held up against my tough and rumble labrador. All 120 lbs of him. It is still in perfect shape, and he uses this thing every single day!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

    • My dog loves this bed
      Verified Purchase

I waited a a few months before writing this review to see how the bed stood up to my very large labrador retriever. She loves this bed - she is a very big dog (tall, long and 90 lbs) and I was very happy to find the bed was large enough for her. When she lays down she leans against the bolster and seems quite comfortable. The bed has really held it's shape well and even after months of use still shows no sign of sagging. The cover washes up very nicely and the only issue I have is that it is a little bit of a challenge to get the the bolster back in the cover after washing - but with practice it gets easier to do. This is a great bed for large dogs.

    • LARGE ENOUGH FOR YOUR LARGEST DANE
      Verified Purchase

I tried everything to get my Dane a bed he could sleep on. I put two and three "large" store dog beds together for him. They would crush down within a week. I bought a baby bed mattress but that was so firm and slick even with a quilt over it he'd slide off. This bed is the Papa Bear bed. It is just right!!!! He has slept on it every night for about a month now and it is still just as full as it was to start with. He loves his bed, including the pillow edge. I wish I'd found this bed long ago. If you have a Dane or any other large breed dog this is finally the bed they will love.

    • Very luxurious bed
      Verified Purchase

This is a far superior bed than two I had returned to Drs. Foster and Smith. The sleeping area isn't tacky, cheap sheepskin; it's baby-soft and plush. The bolster is sturdy but soft and well-secured to the bed. I got a medium (I have a twenty-one pound Boston Terrier) and it's a perfect size for him. He recently had surgery for IVDD and can no longer sleep with me but he took two naps on his new bed yesterday and slept on it all night. I had purchased a 3" thick orthopedic one previously from another company but he didn't seem to get comfortable on it. The 5" mattress really makes a difference. I am extremely pleased with this product and would highly recommend it to a friend.

    • Great Bed for your special canine friend
      Verified Purchase

I purchased this bed for my buddy Max who is a 90 lb. boxer. Max is a little older and sometimes has trouble getting up after lying down for a while. This bed seems to have helped that problem. Max loves the bed. He constantly dozes off while watching the big screen tv. The bed is made of thick memory foam, not the cheap egg crate foam. We have only had the bed for 10 days, but it is holding up well, no sags, dips, etc. The zip off cover should make it easy to keep clean. The bed is a very nice size for Max and he is taller, longer and heavier than the average boxer. I thought about a cheaper bed, but you get what you pay for and so far Max and I are very pleased. We recommend this bed to you. Get one for your canine buddy especially if they are older, have joint issues, etc.

    • Great bed for my dogs
      Verified Purchase

I purchaed these beds for my two dogs, an 80lb lab and a 55lb chow/shepherd mix. Both of my dogs loved these beds. They usually do not just get on the beds at once, they have to push them around to break them in, but they hopped right on these beds and they were comfortable immediately. I would definitely purchase these beds again.

"What size should I order for our 76 lb Labradoodle?"

      • A:

I got the XL for our 80 lb. lab & he loves it; plenty of room to stretch out or flop in any weird sleeping position (I think it's a lab thing).

      • A:

We got the Large for our yellow lab, who is about 65-70 lbs. She can stretch out to her full length or curls up against the back.

"What would be the best bed for a 200+ lb. English Mastiff? My heart sinks every time he plunks down and I hear his elbows bang on the ground. I was thinking of The Integrity Bedding Orthopedic Memory Foam Joint Relief Bolster Dog Bed. I would appreciate any help"

      • A:

I have a 70lb lab and he loves his bed. It is very sturdy and has held up so far.

      • A:

My 6 year old 130 pound Great Dane loves this bed! I bought the extra large and it's perfect for her. She can curl up against the bolster, or stretch out completely. And it's thick enough that she never sinks all the way down. The only downside is that it's a bit difficult to remove the cover. The first bed I bought held up great for 4.5 years--it was the cover that gave way first. What I did with the new one is I bought a waterproof mattress cover for it, then a pretty duvet cover to go over that. So the whole bed has extra protection and the duvet cover is easy to take off and wash. Hope this helps!

      • A:

I have a golden retriever and he is 80 pounds. Just about the right weight on this bd, it is only about 5 inches thick. So I would say your dog would be to heavy.

      • A:

I have an 85 pound golden retriever and he absolutely loves this bed he is taller and longer than most goldens I got the extra large size and it is roomy for him. We just got a golden puppy and this bed is her favorite spot in the house.

      • A:

We have several weimaraners 85-110 Lbs and they've worked great and held up to them!

      • A:

I have a 220lb EM and this bed was to small for him. I bought larger bed through Foster and Smith. I did give the bed to my son for his dog who is much smaller and he loves it

      • A:

I have 2 senior Dobermans, one is 75 lb, the other 85 lb - both have joint issues. I bought one of these to try out, and I am not impressed. The bed is thin - the inside mattress is the foam egg carton material. The fabric that covers the mattress is very thin, cheap - my dogs like to "rearrange" their bed and "dig" out a comfy place, so it wouldn't last long with them. We use the bed in the Family Room where it does't get used much. I suggest looking for something with a gel/memory foam mattress.

      • A:

My pup is a 42 lb. Border Collie mix. She loves her bed. We purchased the Integrity Bedding Orthopedic Memory Foam Joint Relief Bolster Dog Bed in the option of Large - Toffee Micro-Suede. I could have gotten away with getting the Medium bed lol! I believe your darling English Mastiff would benefit best from the Extra Large, unless your pup likes to curl up like my Border Collie mix does :-)

      • A:

My 62lb lab LOVED this bed . Not sure about a 200lb dog tho.....yikes!

      • A:

I bought the XL and my 75 pound pup loves this bed! I have had it for over a year and it has held up great. I could fit another large breed dog on it with him. The size XL will be plenty of room for your mastiff and should relieve joint pain with the memory foam mattress.

    • Q:

"Is there assembly required? One review said it was a bit hard to assemble?"

      • A:

You have to put the cushion in the cover...it's kind of tricky, but not impossible. I washed the cover a few weeks ago, however, and when I was zipping it back onto the cushion, the zipper broke. So I recommend leaving it assembled and just spot cleaning and vacuuming for upkeep.

      • A:

I have purchased two of these orthopedic dog beds (1 large for a 80lb Golden Retriever & 1 XL for a 120 lb Retriever/Husky Mix) They were both put together when they arrived (you just cut off the plastic shrink wrap) You do have to let them sit for 48 hrs to take the correct shape before use. Some people have complained of a smell & there is a plastic smell when you 1st open them up, but the smell was gone long before the 48 hr wait period. Our "spoiled, picky fur-kids" love these beds :) I have also washed them a number of times and they are very easy to put back together. When you remove the cover to wash it, the easiest way to put it back on is to stand the bed up inside the cover & pull the fabric together as you zip it closed (it is not a difficult task @ all) and the zipper is well made. I wash them on gentle & dry on low heat (the material dries in no time & does not shrink) These are really very nice beds!!! 1000% better than anything I've ever seen in any pet supply store. They are very comfortable too (My husband & I have curled up with our dogs on these beds; I'm 5'6 & he's 6'1 :) :) :) I hope this info helps! I am VERY PLEASED with this purchase!

      • A:

I agree with Molly. It is kind of tricky, but not impossible. I have yet to try and take it off to wash it because I worried about the cover shrinking even the tiniest bit. I spot clean with a vinegar, water, and eucalyptus essential oil blend :-)

      • A:

Put the cover on as soon as it opens.. its a snug fit. Well worth the effort, a great bed....

"I have a 33# cockerspaniel what size shoud I order?"

      • A:

        Large size.

      • A:

My 85lb boxer sleeps on a large size. I think your dog would enjoy a medium size.

      • A:

I got the extra large for my 60 # Lab, and she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, it! She can spread out, and I think it helps her joints, she is 14. Sometimes I place an old sheet over it so that it provides the comfort she needs, but remains cooler than the suede. The cover is easily removed to wash, and it's just as easy to put back on the bed. It washes beautifully! Wish I had made this purchase years ago.

      "Does it smell when unpacked?"

      • A:

I have two and neither smelled when I unpacked them.

      • A:

No smell at all and I am super sensitive to odors.

      • A:

no smell that we noticed, and it's in our bedroom.

      • A:

I have purchased five of these - two for me and three as gifts. No smell at all and I am really picky about smells. They vacuum pack it so it looks really thin at first. Needs a little time to expand!

      • A:

        No. smell when unpacked

      • A:

Did not smell when I upacked it. My older dogs love it.

      • A:

No. It did not. It is an incredible bed.

      • A:

Did not smell at all. My 16 year old Jazzabelle went directly to it and loves it. Her joints are much better. I have had several friends comment that it is the nicest dog bed they have ever seen, not to mention the orthoprdic benefits my friend is thriving on. Excellent construction and well made.

      • A:

        No, I did not smell.

      • A:

No, mine did not smell any noticeable odor.

"Not sure whether to buy the leatherette or the microsuede? 75 lb black lab.pit mix. Will the leatherette feel hot and sweaty and sticky? Figure it will be easier to clean..... Any suggestions or comments???? Thanks"

      • A:

Hi, I have the microsuede for my two GSDs...the cover is easy to clean, and can be laundered if necessary. I do not have experience with the leatherette cover. My two enjoy the bed and take turns snuggling in it. Hope whichever one you get, your pup enjoys it as well! :)

      • A:

The bed itself is nice but material VERY thin. My dogs tore through it the first week. Not for nesting dogs!

      • A:

What did you buy I have the same issue not sure about leatherette because it can not be machine washed and I wonder if it feels to plastic like and will make dog hot.

      • A:

Court0778 - I bough the microsuede and am thrilled with it! My dog loves it! Only bed I could get him to sleep on all night. He no longer gets up restless throughout the night, looking for furniture to sleep on. The microsuede is very soft, easy to clean, and beautiful. I don't think you can go wrong with it - unless you have a dog who scratches or chews at his bed.

"My dog is a80pound Staffordshire and is 15years old what size should I order"

      • A:

I have a petite great dame,@ 85 lbs, and bought the largest size possible. A size smaller-x large would have done fine for her-she curls up more than she sprawls.

      • A:

My dog is 90 lb Pitt/lab mix and the XL allows her to stretch and lounge comfortably. She really has taken to her bed.

      • A:

I purchased a large for my 90 lb senior German Shepherd and it fits her perfectly and is roomy - she loves it - and so does her senior sheltie brother who kept getting into her bed so I had to get him his own - I now have four of these beds (2 in bedroom, 2 in den) and everyone loves them, including the cats. lol You and your dog will not be disappointed :)

      • A:

Purchased a large size for my 75 lb. hound mix and it was too small for her. She likes to curl up but it was too small for her when she sprawled out which she does more often than not.

      • A:

Large dimensions: 46 inches long x 32 inches wide x 5 inches thick is perfect since they curl up

      • A:

Purchased a large size for my 70 lb lab. It is the perfect size for her whether she curls up or sprawls out.

      • A:

I have a 68 lb 14 year old lab and have the large and extra large for him. He loves to stretch out in the extra large and sleeps comfortably in both. I believe in going bigger! Get the extra large!!

      • A:

I bought 2 in size large. I have one lab that weighs 93# she stretches out very comfortably on them. I have washed mine several times and it still looks like brand new.

      • A:

Def go XL for your dog. Large was plenty big for our 60lb dog but I couldn't imagine a dog as big as yours on there.
