I got these for my clowder as sort of consolation prizes as I had bought a plug-in, heated cat bed for my elderly guy (& of course it's not liked by any of the furry gang...) & unlike that heated bed, these were a big hit!!! They are thin, but soft, made with that plushy-stuffed animal type fur. They are easy to clean & to keep the "fur" from getting matted, I air dry or "fluff" dry (in dryer, no heat). I believe that the "secret" to it being "self-heating" is that there is a sheet of Mylar (a.k.a. space blankets used by paramedics/ambulance crews) that reflects their body heat sewn inside & NO; it doesn't make any noise. These are kitty tested (from those that are 6 weeks old - up to those who are 16 yrs old) & kitty approved!
My cat has a small house on my well covered porch. I use this heating pad in the house under her bed and apparently she likes it, as she spends alot of time inside the little house on her bed. I like that the cover is removable and washable. It does not have an on/off switch but no big deal, I just unplug it to turn it off. I would recommend this heating pad for kitties and small dogs who are cold natured.
The two pet mats I purchased arrived today. I have 4 cats and two have already claimed a mat, each! Not sure if they will be willing to share! As you can see in the photo, my big boy might have benefited from a larger one, had it been available. If the other two show interest, I will purchase a mat for each of them as well.
I love this heated bed. It says it turns off when not laid on. It seems a little warm most of the time but gets warmer when they lay on the bed. Which is fine. I have it for my older cat, who had many health issues. My cats love it. I put it in a chair near the window so they can watch the birds while laying on it. I wish I had more sunlight coming into my home. Since I don't have the sunlight, I have this warm bed which pets love, but especially older pets with health issues.
