Its very cheap and does not look like the picture at all. The scratching part was already coming apart as soon as I took it out of the box. The carpet is cheap and was pulling away from the base

My cats like to stretch full out when scratching so I thought this would be great for them. I didn't really understand what those little leather tabs would accomplish as far as holding it to the wall, so I ignored them. Of course, the post fell over and scared the daylights out of my cats. I wedged the post under the bottom and it stays pretty well now. My cats have slowly learned that it will not fall over now, but they still don't love it like I thought they would.

As others have written the cats are constantly knocking this over so we ended up putting it on it's side. The cats like it fied on it's side but we really wanted to protect the corner of the wall going in the kitchen as the cats like to scratch the wall. Cats like it, it takes up more room on the floor.

    • Great scratcher AND perch

You WILL need to either attach it to the wall, OR put a wedge under the bottom. I didn't want to drill holes in the wall, especially before I was sure my cats liked this, so I put a wedge under the base, which then forces the lean into the wall, stabilizing the perch. My small cat (9 pounds) loves perching up top. She jumps up and down without trouble, and also lays on top while playing with the hangin fuzzy ball on a stretch cord. My big cat (19 pounds) loves to stretch tall and scratch on this post. He also plays with the fuzzy ball. He has jumped to the perch and stood there for a short time--it remained stable with the wedge holding it in place. However, the platform is too small for a big cat to stay for long. Great addition to our home...fun to watch the cats.

    • Nice, but...

I purchased this cat post for my cat who always sharpens his claws on a corner wall and I thought this would be perfect. The tabs that came with the cat post did not hold, and the cat post fell on my cat when he tried to use it. I replaced the original holders with earthquake strength tabs to fasten it to the wall, but, since it fell on him he won't use it. It looks nice, but at this point it is useless as a cat post. Maybe in time he will try again. the manufacturer needs to replace the fasteners with stronger tabs to avoid this from happening.

    • Kities LOVE it!

This is a GREAT product! It is sturdy and well made. It is tall enough to allow my cats to fully stretch and scratch. Both ends are cover in soft, fluffy "fur".....cats like it and it protects both floor and walls. I usually leave this standing around a corner wall, but sometimes I lay it on the floor. The cut out wedge keeps it from rolling and it keeps the cats interested.

    • Permanently attach before using

In my haste to provide something other than the sofa as a scratching post, I put it in place around a corner and walked away. My large cat with claws was immediately attached, started to scratch and pulled it over on top of her. After it was secured to the wall, she was afraid to use it again. I smeared cat nip all over the post and Bella immediately "embraced" it with all fours. Even Livy who is declawed likes to run her paws over it. It's tall enough for both cats to stretch out to their full length and fun to watch them both. I especially like that the post fits around a corner and is out of the way.

    • Sturdy scratching post
      Verified Purchase

I rescued a stray cat and did not want her to scratch my furniture. I saw her scratching tree trunks outside and this item is almost the same size. It is wide and sturdy. It fits to the corner of the wall (or furniture) and secures there. It stands tall. My cat can stretch her body fully extended. The only thing I would like to change is the material covered on the post. It is not a sissle, it is a rough cloth. Her nails seem to get caught, not able to fully scratch- I thought. But she uses everyday. The pomp pomp toy attached at the top makes some noise and moves unexpectedly because the string stretches, so my cat seems to like that as well. Overall, we are very happy with this item. Most importantly, she has not scratch anything inside my house.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"Why did you choose this product?"

      • A:

Cats can not resist rubbing on corners of walls or furniture as is so why not add a scratch post? Such a logical cat loving item. Had to give this as a gift to a fellow cat owner and lover.

      • A:

        I need it

      • A:

This will go on corner of couch and will be back for more if it works!

      • A:

it's the only decent "corner" scratching post I could find online. My cat has one now, of considerably different design, that a friend gave him when we moved in because his cat ignored it. My cat, Charlie, tore into it It's in shreds and pieces now, so i have to get a replacement corner scratching post. I'm hoping the sisal will stand up better to kitty scratching and stretching than the carpeting of the old one.
