  • Exceptional Filter

I am using this in a 180 gallon tank with many large fish (large waste) and my water has never been this crystal clear. It cleared debris and suspended particles within 24 hours that my sump and eheim canister couldn't do. I was able to eiminate the sump and eheim (which seized up after less than one year of use) and thisFluval is the only filter being used. Best clarity ever. Silent operation. No complaints. Fish are happy and healthy .Worth every penny!

  • So Nice I Ordered it Twice!

I got my first FX5 as an emergency replacement for the pump on my wet/dry sump that died. Maintenance on this thing is a DREAM come true, the handles for pulling out the media stages and the swinging bolts for the top of the canister make monthly maintenance greatly reduces labor. Rotating valves for connecting and disconnecting are a godsend, and absolutely watertight even with about 3 feet of water head pushing down on them. The FX5 turns the water over in my 300 gallon about 2.5 times an hour, and is more than sufficient for most stock. I am only ordering a second one because I plan on adding MORE large, VERY MESSY predator fish to my tank. The FX5 came very highly recommended by a number of other experienced hobbyists, and after a few months of using the first one, I can see why it's a holy grail in the fishkeeping world.

  • Excellent product

I highly recommend this filter to anyone looking for a great canister filter. I sue it to polish my water and it does that on both a 270 gallon and a 475 gallon. It is a secondary filter to a large wet dry in both cases. I keep freshwater stingrays which produce huge amounts of waste and this filter is up to the task of making the water look like air.
