If you're like me, you know that cat trees are made of about $16 worth of material, and the thought of paying $100 or more for one makes you crazy. Because you COULD put one together. You have all the material in your garage RIGHT NOW, probably! But you're not going to, and your poor cat is stuck sitting on the back of your Lazyboy in the meantime.
So, this one is cheap. It's also REALLY great. It's very well-designed and the whole 'house' is assembled. There's lots of rope-covered posts for him to claw like a maniac. You just have to screw the bases together. Took me 10 minutes and the hardware even comes in this cute little drawstring bag. Super classy.
The base...needs work. My tuxedo cat hits the top shelf with the energy of a bowling ball fired out of a cannon, and it would literally be a matter of seconds before he crashed this thing over and cost me $$$ at the vet. So you REALLY DO have to screw it down to a 2' by 2' piece of plywood. But c'mon, you can do that. They even sell precut 2' plywood at your local hardware store. And then you can feel like you did something! :D It's weird to do work on a product you just assembled, but the price makes it worth it.
So: after looking at plans for a year, I finally said, whatever, $** is totally worth it, and I couldn't be happier. And neither could my kitty, who is perched on the top at this very moment, reading over my shoulder. ...help me. haha. SERIOUSLY, BUY IT
I would have given this wooden cat house and litter box a five star rating but the one I received had several flaws in the top piece. There was a large gouge out of the wood on one side and the frame around the top was atteched crookedly leaving a half-inch gap where the two pieces of wood should've met on the back corner. It seems fairly well made overall but just careless workmanship on the top piece.
I bought this cat tree six years ago. It has moved with me, being disassembled and reassembled, across North America. I have two cats and do cat rescue. Six years later, my cats still love it, sleep in it, etc. Except for some sisal fraying, it's in surprisingly good shape. Can't recommend it enough!
I have 3 cats and and 2 are a larger breed. This is perfect for them. Right away the cats started scratching the posts and I have found one of my larger cats (a Maine Coon) sleeping in the hammock bed...she tends to sleep in the bathroom sinks, so this was a change. It's also very sturdy...your large cats can scratch and jump on it without it wobbling. I've just ordered another one for upstairs. Another plus is that it's attractive. I love my cats, but I don't want my house to look like I have an obsession with my cats.
We wanted something bigger and roomier for our new kitten to stay in while we're gone so we got this. It was pretty simple to assemble. The doors on each level are very convenient to access whatever you need to on the three levels. Bickley isn't big enough to access level 2 or 3 so I wrapped sisal rope around boards and secured the boards to the back connecting the shelves and hammocks together. He runs and climbs across the boards from level to level. He loves the hammocks! This was an excellent investment. We feel much better about leaving him every day now because he has plenty of room and interactive opportunities.
I read the other reviews, and they were all very helpful.
- The tree condo is sturdy and a good value.
- Not too complicated to put together, especially if you assemble from the top down.
- Off-white color is neutral, and the carpet and sissel are of a decent quality.
- I personally love the small footprint the tree occupies. I live in a small condominium, and it fills-in an empty corner beautifully.
The one exception I have is that my kitty is not a huge fan of the new cat tree. However, I definitely feel this is a character-flaw of my kitty, and not a problem with the tree itself. My cat is also not sensitive to cat nip, so I cannot use the herb as an incentive.
That said, I do have some neighbor cats from across the hall that like to visit, (don't ask), and they LOVE the tree.
So I'll say, '2 out of 3 cats love this cat tree'.
I got this for my cats to hide the cat food from the dogs. Our dogs are overweight but they would always go for the litter or the cat food if we tried to put them on a lighter dog food. I absolutely love this cottage. Two of my cats seemed curious about it right away, although the plastic flap on the bottom kind of freaked one of them out. I am using this inside and it looks like a dollhouse. The perch and porch are a nice treat as the cats have multiple places to enter and exit. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fun place for your kitties and to keep the dogs out of the cat food.
This is a really cute little house light weight easy to move around. You will need to put it together it was simple and is sized to hold 2 big cats or 4 kittens. I have it on my patio for a few strays I feed.
I've seen other reviews on "buyer beware" because larger cats don't fit. NOT TRUE. I have a very large ginger tom and he has not a problem. It looks great in the house, cats love the soft microfiber. I highly suggest it!
I just received my cat tower, and can't be happier. The cats were climbing all over the cubes before I even put them together. Assembly was a breeze, two screws. It's study, and attractive (for a cat condo). Good thing there are three cubes, because each cat gets one. I've owned a lot of cat trees, this is a great value for the price!
We're using this bed for multiple feral cats to help protect them from the cold weather. Not sure how much they're using it yet but the middle section does collapse & is problematic. Very well made, tho, & provides some shelter.
My kitten really enjoys this cat tower. Her favorite spot is the sling. She spends many a nap time curled up in it. I would not recommend this tower for large cats. My adult male, 12 pound Persian cannot use it. He has difficulty scaling it and cannot sit without lopping over the top shelf. This is definitely better for smaller cats. Easy to assemble and good quality.
I was concerned at first when I got this cat tree because the boxes on it seem too small for a full grown cat to be comfortable in. While I wouldn't recommend this for a large cat, my two cats are on the small to medium size (they weigh about 10 pounds each) and can fit nicely in the boxes, although their favorite place to lounge is on the top shelf of the tree. I’ve had this tree for a couple months now and it’s held up well. It doesn’t shed nearly as much as the carpeted cat tree I have, but it also doesn’t seem as comfortable for my cats to lounge on. All in all, I’m very pleased with this tree. This review was written by a full-time Overstock employee.
I bought this only to get the overall order price up to a certain point to get more of a discount. I'm pretty sure I can get them cheaper at the store, but it served the purpose. Cats love these and good for their nails.
Well made, easy to put together. My cats loved it from the second it came out of the box. Lots of room to play in the holes -- they are each abotu 10lbs and fit no problem. Sometimes they smush in together in the middle. Great buy!
My cat loves her pyramid! She climbs and plays on it constantly. It shipped quickly (I think it arrived 2 days after I placed the order) and came in without a scratch. It took me about 30 mins to put together and was fairly straightforward to assemble once I figured the instructions out. I have it sitting with the open end against the wall so the bottom part makes a fun hiding spot that I can get to and clean if I need to.
We bought this cat tree for our two cats who, at almost 12, are having trouble jumping on anything higher than a foot and a half. The design of this tree was just perfect for them. The path up and down is quite clear and easy to navigate, unlike other cat trees we've seen. One thing I did not expect when I opened the box was just how soft every bit of this thing was. My fiance and I really wished they made a human-sized version for people naps (a google search indicates no one has ever thought of this, for some reason). One other thing I should mention was that putting it together was tricky at times due to some blind screw installs. All this aside, the bottom line is that our cats have really enjoyed this thing, particularly the top perch, which is perfect for afternoon lounging. Yes, it's a bit pricey compared to other options this size, but between the decent build quality, posh material, and great design, this thing is an awesome product. Would definitely recommend for anyone with older cats or cats with limited mobility.
My cat loves his new tower, it's not too tall, just the right height to look out of a window. He's loves to perch on the top and the scratch pad has held up very well. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Kitty thanks you too.
