I have a jack russell who insists on being under the covers. on the couch she pulls down a blanket to burrow under ,and in bed its automatic that she will go under the covers. I set this bed up in my living room and with-in 10 minutes she was investigating the bed. initially she climbed on top, but I grabbed her and showed her how to go in the cave. After that she was in and out of the bed with no further prompting from me. I ordered the large bed hoping my 2nd jack russell will go in there as well. I don't know if he will because he is like a little furnace and radiates a lot of heat.. might be to warm for him. we'll see. anyway I've only had it one day and love watching her go in and out of the cave. I wonder why a medium size is not offered, I looked at a lot of cave like beds but no one offered a medium size,a medium would have been a better fit.
I bought 4 of these for my little senior small dogs. I was looking for the smallest bed I could find that I could remove the cover to wash, and a separate little pillow bottom. My little ones love them -- finally a bed they can curl up and snuggle into instead of crowding me in bed.
I saw in someone else's review that they thought the bed was way too small... my cat Bob is huge, the biggest cat I've ever seen, weighing almost 20 pounds and very long... and he has no trouble fitting in this bed. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the cats don't get in it, other than Bob. I have 2 other cats, so I bought 2 of this type of bed and one of another. None of them will get near the other bed, and only Bob will get in this one, and he doesn't get in it very often. I have no idea why. It's a very well made bed, great cushion inside it, looks very warm and cozy to me... but what do I know? I'm just a human.
Out here in the country, we get a lot of dumped cats. Every year it would take me days to make shelters. Now it is a breeze. The cats jumped right in. I am pleased that I will not have to worry about them keeping warm this winter. Although it is still too mild this time of year, we usually get at least 3-4 weeks of -35 with windchills. All I do is take old dog crates, tarp them, wrap in a moving blanket and use an old blanket as doorway. A few layers of newspaper on bottom of crate, this cat bed and surround it all by straw and you've got yourself an outside cat shelter. They are perfect!
We bought the bed for a feral kitty we ve been trying to catch for weeks. We finally caught her & had this bed ready to go in her cage. She loves it! It heats very nicely & maintains just the right temp. It's
Made her acclimating to our home much more pleasant. We leave her cage door open now & we find her still sleeping in it!
