Overstock.com Now Accepts Bitcoin

Overstock.com accepts Bitcoin

As of yesterday, Overstock.com now accepts Bitcoin! That's right; you can buy any of the thousands of great products we offer using Bitcoin. We've partnered with Coinbase to become the first major retailer to accept the digital currency.

So far, the response has been amazing. In our first day alone, we had over 800 Bitcoin orders. It just goes to show that there is a Bitcoin community excited about buying everything from sofas to designer clothes, TVs to jewelry in the digital currency. In fact, as the first major retailer to accept Bitcoin, Overstock.com is really expanding the possibilities of Bitcoin purchases.

If you're unfamiliar with the digital currency, check out our Bitcoin page, where you can learn how to get and use bitcoins.

Are you a Bitcoin user? How do you think Overstock.com's move to accept Bitcoin will influence the Bitcoin community and other major retailers?

Put it simply. I hadn't heard of overstock.com, until I read an article in my paper informing me that you accept bitcoin. I would like to thank you for taking the next step forward for commerce. It would be great to be able to have a BTC price next to the listed price? Maybe more exposure site wide for the BTC payment option?

I come shopping here only for that reason. However when I tried to buy something the shipping fee was more than the product cost and there was no option to pay in bit coin on the payment screen for New Zealand customers

I tried to make a purchase on you site only because you stated you accepted bitcoin. Sadly there is still a lot of work to be done. From NZ you transferred me to some 3rd party payment processor. There was no bitcoin option and the shipping charge was more than the value of the product. There was then no compelling reason to buy from you. I just asked a friend of mine to purchased the item in china my self and had it shipped over for half the cost.

Very innovative! Still doing some research on it to see if this is the route I want to take.
