  • Great shelves!
    Verified Purchase

We have used these bookcases for shelving sheet music and instruments. They are great and sturdy, never bending with the weight of heavy items over time. These aren't the easiest things to assemble, but their strength and look makes up for that.

  • Bookcase poor value

This bookcase is worth about half the price I paid and my first disappointment in product from Overstock. The cardboard backing gives no support and makes the frame too flexible. My husband added a wooden back to it to make it useable. This is not a good deal. I have purchased sheets, carpet and items that I was very pleased with. The bookcase is not a bargain.

  • poor quality and difficult assenbly

The hardware to assemble the unit does not match the needs. The screws that were supposed to hold the sides and back together don't match the machining of the product. There are holes that have not been tooled where they needed to be and the screws fall through where they should go in to secure shelves and sides. This is a very poorly manufactured book shelf and even close to being worth the ***+ *** I paid for it.

  • Beware the Low Cost Provider
    Verified Purchase

The bookcase is not all steel - has a wooden backdrop. After about 1 and 15 minutes of trying to put the bookcase together I found that the pre-drilled holes for the screws were about an eight to half an inch off - making final assembly of the bookcase impossible. It is not easy to disassemble either - I believe it is made for one-time assembly. I am in the process of returning the bookcase now and will not be ordering a new one. I would much rather spend an extra $75 for a real steel bookcase that is not flimsy and has more manufacturing care.

  • A nightmare to assemble, but otherwise okay
    Verified Purchase

Assembling these shelves was a 3 hour ordeal. The instructions consist only of line drawings, which are vague and difficult to interpret. In several instances the pre-drilled holes did not line up properly, so two people were necessary to bend the metal into place. At one point, I ended up on my stomach on the floor, holding the screwdriver at an odd angle, trying to screw in a screw I couldn't see. I've assembled a lot of furniture in my life, but this stands out as one of the most frustrating. The finished shelves are reasonably good looking for the price and sturdy enough once you load them full of books. I have the unit sitting on a hard surface, and it's fine. I'm not sure how well it would do on carpet, though, since the bottom does tend to warp and twist.

  • Flimsy

This Bookcase should be redesigned. I can put my hand on the top and move it around. Like it twists. I'm going to attach it to a wall to stop that. It is real good looking. No problems with the appearance.

  • Metal bookshelves
    Verified Purchase

It was more difficult to assemble than the many wood or particle board shelves that we have dealt with because the metal can bend. But if you are careful, it comes together and is just what we ordered.
