This is adequate, but the top step is so close to the folded up seat that it's not very useful. I got this for my elderly mother's kitchen because I thought that it would be easier to use since she could hang onto the back while she climbed it, as opposed to using one of those short folding ladders that don't have a back. She can't use the top step. Granted, she's OLD. It would probably be ok for people who are more nimble. The color is stark white. I wish there had been more color options.
This step stool is very sturdy. It is easy to fold up (pull up on the latch) and stow away. The steps are wide,. I bought the step ladder because my tall hubby puts things on the top shelf in the kitchen cabinets, and after over 30 years, I'm afraid that one wrong swipe with the fliiter turner / tongs, or any other kitchen utensil that I can get to rake things off that top shelf may hit me in the head. The ladder is cheaper than a trip to the urgent care :-) BTW, I bought 2... my daughter is having the same problem.... she shouldn't have to wait 30 years either . :-)
