After reading previous reviews, I purchased the desk for a small space. It took several hours to assemble with its 19 steps, many screws and parts. The instructions used more images and arrows than text and I highly recommend more text to help provide clarity on what screw should go where. Other than that, the desk looks great! It truly is a pure white finish.
I just moved in to a new home and I'm getting ready to retire. I wanted to downsize my office from an entire room to just a corner of my living room. I was looking for something that looks was small enough to fit in the corner, big enough to be able to spread out my work for the day, and have enough storage space for me to put it all away when finished working. This item fit all of those requirements. I was a little worried about assembling as I did not have a helper, but will a little maneuvering, I was able to put it all together by myself. It is very heavy and sturdy once assembled and I did need assistance getting the hutch on and attached to the desk and then to slide it all the way into the corner. The directions were confusing to me at first, but once I studied them a bit and figured out their method, it all went together quite well. The only part I had any issue with at all was the desk drawer. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if the directions were a little off, but in the long run the problem was when assembling the drawer sides to the back, I stripped the screw holes. This was the only part of the assembly that did not have pre-drilled holes. With the holes stripped I couldn't get the drawer to stay together. My solution was to take it all apart (just the sides, back and bottom. I then used wood glue and glued one side on at a time, including adding glue to the screw holes and reinserting the screws. Once the sides and back were back together, is slid the bottom in (glued that too), the reattached the front. NOTE: I let each step dry overnight before proceeding. My drawer is perfect now and very sturdy. Another note: The assembly of the file cabinet drawers was very different and the file cabinet was actually the easiest part to assemble.
