  • NEVER AGAIN

This is a great idea; reclaimed wood from India that is helping people form a new industry. However, we ordered this chest in three drawers six months ago and we can not have it in the house because of the strong smell. The OLD, OLD, OLD wood is very worm eaten and rotten. The wood has been surfaced/planed anywhere you can see, but, not the underside/unseen areas of the boards. The entire inside of the case is old rotten/cottage cheese wood. We had it in the spare bedroom until the smell forced us to put it outside on the deck. It smells like the wood was soaked in water and gasoline for years. The drawers do not fit and are uneven - giving it a much more rustic look than is in the pictures. Only one of the three drawers opens without a lot of force. The colors are much more muted than the photos show; we ordered the aqua blue which is dark blue with maroon paint as the predominate color the overall look, color-wise, is ugly brown. I'm guessing most of the cost of this product is from shipping. It is VERY heavy - the wood is an inch or more thick in much of it. It was shipped in two boxes, one for the frame and the other for the drawers - both weighted a ton - large pieces of this furniture are going to be a problem getting up any stairs. It was a good idea, but the reality is not usable in our home. Never again.

  • Big variation in color, drawers don't open well
    Verified Purchase

We ordered two red, and expected some variation (per the warning in the product description). We essentially received two VERY different nightstands, from the colors down to the design. The only thing they have in common is the drawers don't open/close easily. One is bright red, and the other is burgundy. Even where the color is is different on both. The actual design is also different -the dimensions are roughly the same but they have a different look entirely. These are heavy and I didn't want to deal with returning them, so they are staying. We plan on re-painting one to at least look like the other one. I don't actually use the drawers since they are too hard to open. In all, probably not the best purchase, they are cool looking but not worth the price.
