Time to replace old one. Read reviews and purchased. This pressure cooker is fabulous! It is everything they claim. The book doesn't say how to cook dried beans, but I can probably find that at food network.com. I highly recommend following instructions in the book, the lid is unique. Update: the pressure cap and its 4 separate pieces broke down after a couple years, replacement was necessary. I also replaced silicone gasket, my became sticky and greasy, regardless of thorough cleaning.
I had never used a pressure cooker and quite frankly I feared them. Had images in my head of lids blowing off and magma-hot food maming a kitchen full of guests. My sister got an electric pressure cooker and de-mystified the concept. I don't have much space for gadget storage so I wanted a small stove top version. I found this little 3.2 here on O.co and decided to give it a shot. Love at first try. I cut a pork roast into chunks, gave it a splash of soy sauce and some water and let it go for an hour. It shredded as if I had slow roasted it for 4 hours. My favorite use is to make stock. In one hour i get the same result as 6 hours of simmering. I think I might give this one to my son and get myself the 4/6 qt set (one lid fits both)!
After a long search I found this Espresso maker. Remind me of my days in college. Solid construction and easy to use over the electric range. Allow me to save money on coffee filters cause they are not needed.
