The new Olympia 18 inch-rolling backpack was a terrific piece of luggage for a recent vacation. We flew so I carried the backpack on board with overnight items just in case my checked luggage was misplaced. The backpack was light-weight to carry, but the wheels were a wonderful 'perk' to lighten my load and sress/strain on my back. Thank you for offering this product!
My daughter used this bag for a whole year now. We couldn't wait to replace it with another wheeled bag. At first, the bag would fall forward when books were put inside. Now, it barely can stand up on its own even when empty (leans forward a lot). The netting for the bottle holder started to rip immediately. The bottom edges of the bag started to rip/tear as well. The only thing we liked was the front pockets and the colors are great, too.
I purchased the Olympia rolling backpack for my 10 1/2 year old daughter (whom is VERY picky). I must have shopped at 10 different stores w/her and purchased and returned 3 different backpacks. She seemed to find something wrong with all of the backpacks we saw. I did agree with her on most of her complaints. The color was to "boyish", the wheels not sturdy enough, the handle was too long, the material was too flimsy...etc. The price in my opinion was at the top of the list! So, when we received her Olympia rolling backpack, we both knew we had gotten a GREAT deal. The material is of great quality, the 4 wheels are comparable to rollerblading wheels (with bearings), the color and style are unique (at her school, the kids seem to all have similar styles, colors, etc), and the inside of the backpack is very spacious. And the price was perfect! We are both very satisfied with our purchase! Thanks, Overstock.com!!!! :)
I bought 2 of these for my daughters and within a short time the bottoms of the backpack got holes in it since it is just fabric and no reinforcement. The capacity is good but the material is just not holding up with 7 and 8 year olds and they are not even rough with it, just rolling the backpack up stairs and the sidewalk curb wrecks the pack within weeks.
I searched rolling book bags for my two kids. I chose Olympia rolling bag by some reviews on the internet. I am satisfied the two bags. Now my third one's regular back pack was broken, and I chose same Olympia's bag again. (Only color is different.) It is big enough to keep all school materials plus some toys or extra books. my kids put their lunch bag into the bag, too. Because we do not own a car, the kids need to walk to the school. It is ten minutes walk. And it is tough. The kids run with the bags. The bags fly on the staircases. Still the bags are working very well. No handle broken. No wheels broke a part. But two things I do not like are the handle is not hight adjustable and easy to tear mesh bag in the side of the bag. Because the handle is not adjustable, the belt holders close to the bottom broke right after the purchase with dragging on the road. (But we merely use the bag as a back pack.) The mesh bag tears, because the kids are not careful to turn on the corner wall. But kids are kids. I like the affordable price. I think it is good value. It is my back saver. (Not kid's! Because I had to carry heavy three back packs before.)
We got this backpack for our small daughter's return to school. Last year, albeit a cheaper version, lasted EXACTLY one day, the first day of school. While in the pull-behind mode, the shoulder/back straps would end up directly UNDER the rolling wheels, she is elementary school aged, did not know this, not her fault, anyway, after 3-blocks there and 3- more home, the sidewalk and wheels had totally cut thru the straps making it a pull-behind only. THIS pack is designed MUCH better, the back straps 'un-clip' from the bottom when in the pull-mode, and tuck neatly into a flap on the back of the pack, protecting them from JUST this issue. When she does want to carry the pack, simply pull them out, clip on the bottom rungs and now you can carry. No dragging on the ground... now, only if she (you) remember to do this. Anyway, the material seems very sturdy, the PINK is true to pink, and she loves it, it seems pretty well made, but we've only used it now for 3-days. Overall good value for the money spent.
My daughter wanted somthing that had a large pouch to hold more of her books. Not taller, but wider. This backpack delivered. The fabric, zippers and wheels are good quailty and I think it is going to hold up for the entire school year. I paid the same amount for a multi zipper fancy flowered backpack, but in 2 months of being exposed to a 6th grader, a wheel broke, the fabric had holes because she drags it all over the ground, and she could never find anything because she couldn't remember which pocket it was in. If you are looking for a good sturdy well made backpack for a busy student... this is it.
Well, this backpack is awesome IF you don't use it for a student with heavy textbooks. To me this kind of defeats the purpose of a rolling backpack. We love the color choices. We haven't had any problems with zippers or wheels....yet The problem is that the weight of 3 to 5 textbooks made the bottom buckle and the bag no longer stands up on it's own. This doesn't entirely prevent the bag from being useful as it still rolls fine. It gets scuffed up more now, however because it falls over on the ground when he lets go of the handle. Unfortunately, this weak bottom isn't covered by the replacement plan I paid for. This bag is more of a take some clothes to grandma's house for a visit type of bag. It's not strong enough for student usage. Too bad because it's a great bag otherwise.I would recommend this bag ONLY if you don't use it for a student who brings home heavy books.
The Olympia rolling backpack is the perfect transitional size for my son. It is made of high quality material and very durable. Perfect for rolling school supplies and homework to and from school. We were suprised to find the double wheels on both sides and the extra extension handle for people of different heights. Wonderful! Well recommended.
I purchased the rolling duffle bag for a trip to Ireland. I needed something to keep with us since we did a tour by motorcoach. This bag was exactly what I was looking for. I needed something to keep raincoats, extra jackets, misc items, and purchased items. Having a rolling bag relieved us of having to lug a bag around was a blessing. Although the bag was not small enough to fit in the tiny overhead of the bus, it was still small enough to place between myself and my husband on the bus. It also has a hidden backpack strap, which would be useful if you preferred to backpack it. It is very good quality for the price. It always stood firmly on it's feet and has a handle on top to grab it to carry it. It was the perfect product for travel, and got home in the same condition as when it left....no worse for wear of the trip.
I teach aerobics classes and purchased this rolling backpack to carry my weights, shoes, etc. I need a bag that is lightweight (so I can lift it out of the car with the weights inside) but sturdy enough to carry heavy equipment. This bag fills the bill. It has several zipper pockets and is attractive. So far it meets all of my needs and seems to be very well made. Great bag at an excellent price.
I needed a rolling pack for college and this one seemed to meet all my criteria. The wheels are smooth and the handle firm feeling. The construction is sound. I'd have preferred that the outer pockets run the full length of the bag - they are half length and less helpful. It doesn't hold as much as I'd like, but if it did, it would probably weigh a ton... The color description - dark lavender lead me to believe that the color would be soft. It's actually royal purple and I would have picked another color if it had been more acurately described. All in all, it's a great bag for the price.
My kids backpacks always have to be replaced in Spring, none are durable enough to make it through an entire year. I was very pleased to find these backpacks available in April. They are just the right size, seem durable and well put together. The fabric color and quality is very nice, the extending handle for rolling and the wheels work smoothly. I gave a so so rating for durability because I don't know how these will hold up over time, but will say that some backpacks fall apart or break within weeks, and these still look and work like new after 3-4 weeks of use.
My child started using this backpack in the middle of August for school. The bottom plastic frame has cracked and the mesh bottle holder is ripped. This is a cheaply made backpack.
We have been very please with this backpack so far. It is for my 4th grade son who can be hard on a backpack. We've only had it for about 3 weeks, but it is holding up well. It is large and will hold quite a few books. The wheels look sturdy. The only potential problem is that the clip for attaching the shoulder straps drags the ground when using it as a rolling backpack. I can't figure out how to correct this. Overall, we are happy with this backpack.
I am very happy with this product. The zippers are strong and thats important when flying. This piece of luggage also fits well in overhead compartments on small planes and thats exactly why I purchase it! Very pleased.
Very high quality, and compared to other rolling backpacks, very much superior. it's quiet and heavy duty, has just enough space/pockets and I love the way it's designed.
I order this backpack in apple green and was very pleased at the quality once I received it. Believe me, I have some very heavy medical college books that I carry and so far this backpack has stood up to the weight.
I have just returned from a trip to South Africa and had bought two of these backpacks for my girls ages 6 and 9 to use as carryon. I was looking for a backpack that was compact enough to fit under the seat of the airplane, but also one that could hold enough stuff to keep them occupied on a long flight. My other prerequisite was that it be stable and not tip over every time they turn a corner or overfill it. I have to say that this backpack has totally performed over and above my expectations. There are still no rips or tears on the outside or the inside as so often happens when their school backpacks are stuffed to capacity. And for the price who could ask for more. I would highly recommend this backpack for students and travellers alike, as well as for a child or adult. If there is such a thing as the perfect backpack this may be the one.
I bough this for my daughter who is ninth grader. Generally she goes through a couple of backpacks in one school. This packpack has lasted her 9 without any damage. The zippers work great. Multiple pockets are realy helpful for organizing. I am very pleased with this purchase. Thanks O
