I am posting this review as requested by Overstock.com's email petitons. It is important to note that I have yet to use this item in a real world situation so its longevity and durability I cannot adjudge at this juncture. If I had an opportunity to put some mileage on this item it may have recieved a 5 star rating. Bearing that fact in mind it appears to be one of the more substantive suitcases I have owned and seems considerably constructed whilst maintaining a lightweight sans contents. The unit being comprised of lightweight polycarbonate ABS, which creates a hardshell, is apt to withstand the abuses that most any airline baggage service may mete out. Its Achilles' heel may be, as mentioned by another reviewer, the zipper that binds the case and retains its contents. The zipper does appear steady and may withstand the Hockey Puck Treatment that a lot of lugguge endures, in my case only trial will tell. I will report back expeditiously if this piece fails my expectations, I am however filled with tempered optimism. Its interior is quite spacious, well designed and crafted, which makes it tempting to overload, I advise prudence in this regard. Another appealing feature is that the unit incorporates four wheels and not just two, a nice addition. Bearing in mind MY final cost of this piece it seems a good value and worth a gamble........as its Vegas bound or bust!!!!
I really love the hardshell case which make this luggage easy to pack and weatherproof. The multidirectional wheels are also a great feature for wheeling around a busy airport. I also love that I can easily spot my luggage at any airport.
Although the set looks amazing, the shell is pretty thin and the inside is very spartan. My girlfriend had given me an old hardshell case of hers and, even though it was pretty dated, it felt a lot more solid. First of all, the set uses zippers instead of a latch. I guess there's less chance of it breaking, but it just seems cheap. The hardshell case is pretty flexible. It will probably stand up to a decent amount of abuse, and because it's flexible it might actually take it better than a harder case... but in general it doesn't make it feel very durable. The internals are spartan at best. Just some tie-down straps. No compartments. I guess that's to be expected in a set of luggage like this. Also, the sizes are a bit off. The big one is very big, the middle one is a little small for a multi-day trip. The little one is really small. Maybe overnight, 2 day if you pack light. Overall I'm not super happy with this purchase, but it'd cost too much to send it back. Oh well. But it does _look_ nice!
We really made good use of the room in the luggage. We packed all the cases with clothes and stuff. After a few trips, there were a few minor marks, as expected, since we checked all of our luggage and had several layovers. I really like the zippered section and the small zippered pouch inside, it's great for small personal items and it's easy to access. The reason I bought this set was the hard shell and the combinations of spinners and the two-wheeled carryon. The spinners are a huge benefit going through queue lines and the hardshell gives added protection to fragile items. This is a really great set of luggage. I couldn't have asked for more. Higly recommended!
