We travel alot and all suitcases take a beating with air travel. I take a very long time to find my next suitcase when one gets damaged. First I have alway LOVED a hindged opening suitcase. I think it is easier to pack, like a drawer. Second, it rolls with such ease. The locking system holds you zipper pulls, bonus. Do you know how many times my zipper pulls have been damaged or pulled off! Third and very important..........LIGHT WEIGHT. Lightest weight hardsided I could find in a 29" suitcase. Finally, colors are great and easy to spot, inside pockets, accessory board, and straps are excellent. I loved this suitcase so much, I purchased a second. We like to travel with one suitcase under 45lbs loaded.
I'd been looking for a suitcase into which I could place my Lendrum DT spinning wheel. It folds in half for travel, but is too big for an overhead bin. So I needed a suitcase which could withstand reasonable pounding without damaging the wheel. The previous gold-standard was a Samsonite Oyster that's no longer available (except at thrift shops or the like), so I began searching for an alternative, and chose this Traveler's Choice 28-inch upright. It felt flimsy, as do all these new lightweight suitcases, but with the addition of some mattress foam cut to fit and more padding around my wheel, it made the trip cross country twice without damage. I did invest in a suitcase belt as this suitcase closure is just a zipper (and I wanted the thing to remain closed, even if it "popped" open in handling). Worked great, and held not only my Lendrum, but its lazy kate, extra bobbins, and a whoooole bunch of fiber. :)
I was looking for super light luggage and was surprised when found this Wenger Swiss Gear Expandable Lightweight 28-inch Spinner Upright Luggage with the weight 4.8 lb. When I got it the weight was 4.8 kg which means almost 10lb.
