My wife is a watch fanatic and keeps 10-12 in constant rotation and several more "on the bench" for special occasions, etc... I have fewer watches but prefer quality over quantity. I ordered a pair of these boxes, one for each of us. The box looks great empty and displays watches of varying sizes in an efficient and classy way. The "pillow" inserts are very high quality and I expect the entire unit will last for an extended period of time. The clasp is small and elegant and provide easy access to the contents of the box. I am sure you can find more expensive boxes but you will be throwing money away. Wife loved it and isn't that really all that matters. ;-)
Alpina, as many of you may know, is the halo brand for Frédérique Constant, which was one of the few remaining independent watch manufacturers left in Switzerland until the Citizen Group purchased them in May of 2016. This is not necessarily a bad thing, since Frédérique Constant, and by extension Alpina, was working on more "in-house" movements to help differentiate themselves in the market. Citizen's acquisition should provide more know-how and capital to further achieve this goal. The Alpina Startime Pilot is an excellent watch. It has a distinctive look and the fit and finish is on par or better for it's intended price category. I especially like the large date format and the subdial for the seconds hand. The bracelet is well made and is large enough for most male wrists. Finally, the packaging and documentation that come with the watch are excellent and what you would expect from a mid level Swiss watch. All in all, I think the watch is an excellent buy.
Nice, functional watch. Not glamorous, but easy to read. A little on the boring side, but does what it's supposed to do. I like the Weekender better (I bought both) but this is more practical as the watch band doesn't need constant cleaning. (NB: This watch face is smaller than the Weekender.)
Good watch, however the item shipped from Hong Kong (sketchy? with no authorized dealer verification card) and the 2-year manufacturer warranty card was removed from the box, essentially making the warranty void. Other than those circumstances, the watch is holding up well after a month of constant use. Band sizing has proved to be tricky, however. Purchased third party insurance since the 2 year warranty isn't available.
