The watch itself works well. It is an automatic watch using a Swiss mechanism manufactured in China. I had heard the Chinese had purchased a Swiss watch factory whole and moved it to China, and I suppose these are one of those. The only problem I have is the terrible watchband which is an unnatural looking Vynil glued to leather. It looks like a cheap replica of alligator pattern embossed leather. It is also far more orange than pictured. I have a 24mm light tan leather band which costs almost as much as this watch on order. Fine watch, terrible band. I recommend you stick to the black synthetic banded watches in their line unless you are willing to buy a different band.
THIS WATCH CAME PACKAGED IN A BEAUTIFUL BOX - IT IS A NICE LOOKING WATCH - STUHRLING IS A FAIRLY EXPENSIVE WATCH (RETAIL) WITH A GOOD NAME AND THE MOVEMENT IS A DECENT MOVEMENT, OVERALL. IT IS A LARGE AND THICK WATCH CASE WITH A SUBSTANTIAL BAND (AND NICE LOOKING FINISHING (ETCHED TANG)). IT IS DIFFICULT TO LOCATE A REPLACEMENT STEEL BAND FOR IT, AT 24MM (ALTHOUGH MY WATCH REPAIRMAN SAID HE COULD PUT ONE ON IT FOR ABOUT $40.00) NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS - THE WATCH I RECEIVED WAS DEFECTIVE - THE CROWN SKIPPED AND POPPED WHEN TRYING TO MANUALLY WIND THIS WATCH, THE ROTOR WOULD BARELY MOVE WHEN IT WAS FINALLY WOUND, AND WHEN IT WOULD ROTATE, YOU COULD FEEL THE WATCH "BANG" AND "SHAKE" AS THE ROTOR TURNED. I TOOK THE WATCH AND HAD IT LOOKED AT BY A PROFESSIONAL (AS SOON AS I GOT IT) WHO TOLD ME IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND I NEVER EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO WEAR IT EVEN ONCE, I HAD TO SEND IT BACK....OH WELL, HAVE ORDERED AND RECEIVED SEVERAL OTHER NICE WATCHES FROM OVERSTOCK IN THE PAST, SO I WILL FIND ANOTHER TO REPLACE IT....HOPE THIS HELPS - WOULD HAVE KEPT IT AND HAVE BEEN PLEASED FOR A STRAP WATCH IF IT HAD WORKED PROPERLY,,,
Overstock is always the place to go for the best deals on quality watches. I bought this watch about a month ago and was very surprised at the quality and craftsmanship that went in to such a low price piece. My best friend and his girlfriend recently purchased two Stuhrling originals from overstock at great prices so I decided to check them out. The specs on this watch are a little off. The strap is actually a 24mm. I upgraded mine with a rubber F1 strap with deployment clasp from Modena Watch.com. This watch paired with that strap look amazing. I wasn't too thrilled with the offset winding knob but with a face this large, it makes the watch more comfortable when bending your wrist so it isn't grinding into your hand. I highly recommend this watch! You will love it. Especially for the price.
The RT men's 45mm automatic diver is a nice looking, sturdy dive watch (rated to 300m). But fairly heavy - weighing in at 235 grams (to date the heaviest watch I own) and very thick, boasting a higher-than-average profile extending off the wrist. The illumination is very poor and the bezel is much too loose to be used as a serious diver, imo. Illumination of both hands (hour and minutes) and at 12 marker and all 5 minute markers are extremely weak to the point that it does not retain enough light-energy for the lowest of illumination; and what energy it does retain doesn't last longer than maybe 10 seconds. Overall, if you have large wrists, are looking for a daily wearer that's built like a tank and you don't need night illumination or will need to dive with it (loose bezel), this isn't a bad buy. Note that the bracelet/band width is 24MM (not 20MM as stated under the product's description).
