I have to admit...I'm a bit of a watch snob. I own 2 Omegas and a Panerai, so I was reluctant to purchase a "fashion" quartz watch, particularly one with a Japanese movement. But, I've been wanting an inexpensive black PVD timepiece for casual wear. When it arrived, I was surprised at how solid it felt. I tend to prefer larger watches (44-47mm) so this 51mm didn't appear to be overly big. Size is a subjective choice, however, so take that into consideration. Additionally, the weight wasn't an issue for me either. It's definitely large and heavy, but it wears very comfortably. Honestly, there is absolutely no way I would purchase this watch at the suggested retail price of $$$. However, I think it's a bargain at the current price. (I purchased this watch in July 2012) The only downside, in my opinion, are the hands. The indices on the main dial and sub-dials are white, which I think are a nice contrast to the black. But the hands are black as well, which makes them difficult to see during the day, and nearly impossible to see at night. Also, the lume is terrible. But, this is a fashion watch after all, and not a functional diver. If you're looking for a big, chunky, black watch that's fashionable and gets attention...you can't miss with the 51-30.
This is my 2nd Nixon 51-30 from Overstock, first one was the Rose Gold. I can't say enough of how nice (and big) this watch is. The price was even better, you will NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT find it cheaper anywhere else! I always get compliments on my Rose Gold, and I'm sure the same thing will happen with this bad boy. Gotta feel like you got a bargain when you buy a $*** retail watch (not including tax) and get it for $*** shipped through Overstock, get yours now!
