I can't tell you how many of these watches I've had over the years, but I keep going back to this style; particularly the T78587 model, because the body is made from brass. Brass doesn't corrode easily when exposed to skin oils and salt. Typically, the wrist bands will fail long before the watch will. Takes a standard CR2016 battery, which are available at any major pharmacy. I prefer expansion wrist bands over leather straps and bracelets. This watch has an audible alarm, stopwatch/timer, and Indiglo backlight for reading at night. The easily readable digital face shows month/day and time. Everything I need for casual, daily wear. I wish Timex still made these watches. I love the retro style and appearance. To maximize watch longevity, keep it away from water immersion; avoid taking a shower wearing this watch. If it does get wet, carefully wipe it dry. I'm going to order a couple more of these to keep as spares/replacements. There's no instructions for setting the watch, but if you have any basic experience with simple electronics, you'll figure it out. Takes 20 seconds to set the watch for DST or different time zones. Just what I want in a watch. Very good!
I love these watches. I work at a horse farm and wristwatches just don't work for me - something breaks before a day is out. These watches are the perfect solution, and I've been glad of the little flashlight in more than one emergency. These watches come in a variety of colors and I've had various ones. My advice get one with a metallic finish (silver or brass) because the colored anodized coatings are not as durable and tend to wear off, making the watch look tacky. These are class looking too, and people are surprised at how little they cost. One of the reviewers had his watch break when he dropped it. I guess its a matter of bad luck because mine have survived hard usage with flying colors. If you are an active person who doesn't want to have to have to reach for a cell phone to tell the time, you'll probably enjoy these. Note: The batteries are hard to change because the back plate is very tight -- you're probably going to have to take it to a jeweler. I just love my present Dakota watch with an antique brass finish that is very Steampunk. Frankly, the price is so low, that I suggest you give this a try. You may never put anything on your wrist again.
