I've had a DW6900 for many years now. Not sure when I bought it but it was nearly 10 years ago. That watch is STILL running w/o a battery change! It's beat up and really showing it's age so I thought it was time to retire it. Just got this GW6900 and LOVE it! Just like my old DW but nice and clean and crisp PLUS, it is solar powered and has atomic time keeping. Love this updated classic!
I wore my watch for all but two days. I wore the watch in 100 degree heat in the sun while working with water and dirt and was worried it could ruin the functionality. It didn’t, and held up very well. My watch held up just fine. No scratches, no defects and ran true to time. Overall I was very pleased with my watch face. It was trick to get the dial just right to switch the date but felt the instructions were easy to follow. My concerns is that the leather strap started to peel in just 10 days. Please see pictures.
Got this for my son to go on a 10 day backpacking trip. No phones meant he needed another way to track time. This watch lives up to the old Timex commercials that claim "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!" The watch and the band have survived quite a bit. It has been briefly in a shower, a pool, and a snowbank. It has been stepped on, dropped, and scraped on rocks. It has survived high heat and high altitudes. If only his smart phone was as durable and boy-proof! One of the best investments we have made for his Scouting Adventures. He now wears it all of the time and uses it to tell time instead of his phone. Happy mom!
