  • Nice watch with a few minor drawbacks

Looking for a watch with my top four qualities: tells accurate time, waterproof, glows in the dark and automatic (no batteries!), I found the Kadloo series. For the price and features the Match Race Grey Dial seemed to be exactly what I want. It has a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement which you can see behind the sapphire crystal in the back. I've had it for just over a week now and it seems to be +/- about 5-10s. per day, so a tolerable gain/loss. The movement has four settings 0) locked down 1) manual winder 2) date adjust 3) hack stop/time adjust--this means you can stop the watch at the top of the minute then synchronize it with another source, something that was not clear in the description. It's a solid watch, and it comes in a nice box (which I don't necessarily appreciate, unless it's a functional case with necessary accessories, which this wasn't--you just get the watch and the user's guide). Now for the downsides. The band, while very nice, is small. It came adjusted a little bit shorter than possible, and I extended it out to its max "normal" length (there is a diver's suit extension, but you don't want to use that on a regular basis--that's made to fit over a neoprene dive suit) but it's still quite tight against my wrist. I expected the box to contain an extra few links (most luxury watches of this sort will come with extra links/length to allow adjusting up/down as necessary). If your wrist is larger than average (I am exactly 5'9" tall and HWP) you will have trouble fitting this watch on your arm. I contacted the company on Tuesday through their web site (which appears to be undergoing some sort of reconstruction or new construction) to inquire about purchasing extra links, and still haven't received a response. The dial is a nice color, but the hands and markings are quite close in contrast to the dial, making it hard to read. It actually looks to have a brownish tone in the pictures, and it's a definite gray (not a steel gray, gray) in real life. The crystal and dial face in combination are a little shiny, so sometimes that distracts from clear viewing of the watch face. If I were to make another purchase at the same price I might have chosen the version with the black band and face for more contrast with the markers/hands and better visibility through the crystal. I would have liked the lume to be tritium tubes which last for years rather than a sort that needs to be charged under a light before use in the dark. I charge it under my night lamp before turning in and there's usually enough charge left on it to tell time in the early morning when the alarm goes off (about seven hours later). Also not clear from the picture is exactly how shiny this watch and its band would be in real life. It's not quite 'bling' but it approaches that. The watch is a little larger in diameter than my Zodiac Super Sea Wolf (that's another story), but much less thick, so it fits well under a dress shirt. It's still a fairly large watch, and as I mentioned before, I have average sized wrists so it looks large. The bezel is very nice. the numbers and ticks stand out well. They are silver against a black background. I don't know how well the darkened stainless steel will hold up, but so far it seems to be good. Overall this seems to be a solidly made watch, I'm happy with the construction including the movement. I'm a little concerned that the company hasn't responded to my request to purchase additional [matching] links for my stainless steel band, and I'm concerned that the web page with the address of the service center (which I'll need in 3-4 years to have the watch serviced) is not available. I would certainly buy this watch again, but I'd be more careful to ensure the company will be around to help me with the minor details as i mentioned above.
