Just took delivery of a Hives and Honey 'Florence' Walnut-finished Wood Jewelry Armoire. The Unit is a lovely design, well made, with terrific shipping container methods. HOWEVER, the Lid must be attached with five (5) screws. Usually “0” Problem…but with this piece, over an hour of effort! I took great care attaching the Lid, attempting to use the 5 pre-drilled holes in the Lid. BUT, the holes were DRAMATICALLY smaller (diameter) than the screws. While the Screws provided are “self-tapping”…I’ve had enough experience to know that the Brass Screws that came with the Order are just a “bit” harder than butter!! Attempting to affix those Screws and “set them home” with such tiny pilot holes would have guaranteed that the Phillips Heads would have been stripped and/or broken off! So…through trial and error on scrap wood...I found and used 2 “push/pull” drill bits that would gradually increase the pilot hole diameter. I then found a STEEL Screw of the correct diameter to “tap” each of the holes so that your Brass Screws would bite…but not break. Not counting the effort on the scrap wood, this meant that I drilled out the 5 pilot holes 2 times each…and then inserted/removed the STEEL Screw into EACH hole. Only then, could I actually affix the top, with your Screws to the proper tension and complete the assembly. A lucky break for me (and YOU) that I have all the tools and know-how needed. Someone less experienced would sure be contacting you for more Screws and/or a replacement top. BIGGER PILOT HOLES are needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got this for myself because I wear a lot of blue professional wear. I gave it a 3 because it doesn't shine at all, the stones are dull and not finished properly, and even though the description says its silver covered in 14k gold, it smells like cheap brass and your hands smell like cheap brass when you touch it. possibly erroneous description??? You be the judge
