BottLed Up Designs, handmade from the broken pieces of antique glass and bottles reclaimed from the woods and farmlands of the Pennsylvania Amish Country in an effort to remove this hazard from the wildlife and natural habitats! Pale lavender glass from the broken remains of early 1900's purple medicine bottles has been gathered, ground and fired. The petite glowing gems are mounted on lead and cadmium free pewter settings, with surgical steel ear wires. Petite drops measure just under 1/2" across with a total drop under 3/4". Dangly earrings with lots of movement and sparkle. Each piece of Bottled Up Designs includes "The Story of the Glass" detailing the history and age of the glass used.

    Story Behind the Art:

A life long collector of antique bottles and glass, I have spent countless hours digging through the many antique glass dumps found so commonly in the Pennsylvania Amish Country where I live.  One day while on a dig, I noticed a baby fawn and her mother laying nearby.  When they caught my scent they were up and away and I was horrified to realize they had been laying on the jagged remains of an old broken bottle.  I then realized the effect this old glass is having on the wildlife and environment and changed my mission.  I began bringing home the broken pieces and in an effort to let these beautiful but broken treasures live on, they are lovingly handmade into beautiful modern jewelry.  As a life-long collector, each piece includes "The Story of the Glass" detailing the history and age of the glass used.

These earrings are very pretty and well made with nice details. I like them but was surprised how different the color is from the picture. The earrings I received are a light purple. The picture indicates a blue/purple color. I will probably keep them as they are pretty, just a different color than I was expecting.

Yet another lovely piece of handmade jewelry. Love, love, love the recycled glass and the idea behind each color being a different piece of history.

Very pretty but more purple than the pictures depict. I don’t usually wear purple so I will give them as a gift. I’d definitely keep them if they were more blue.

These are very pretty. They are light weight, well made and attractive. I wanted purple that would look classy. I should have these for many years.
