My husband could no longer see the date on his watch, so I was looking for a new watch for our 50th anniversary gift. This watch has a magnifier over the date, so he can read it easily. The watch is beautiful and easy to read. It's simple and classy looking, just like he is, even after 50 years!
I have this to my sweetie for Valentines day and he loves it. He loves the bright face and the clear dial. The date name is a sweet additional feature. AND since he must wear only a self winding watch, he's been thrilled. Also, the winding lasts much longer than his prior watch.
Overall this watch is excellent. What you can't see in the picture is a handsomely-crafted honeycomb dial, barely visable but very elegant. Also the number designations on the dial are slightly raised, which gives the watch a nice look. The chrono function is easy to use.Tthe minor drawbacks are 1) the watch is probably 13mm thick. I have more expensive watches that have more complicatons and are half as thick; 2) it's very heavy; 3) the chrono function is hard to see; 3) the band is cheap-but looks ok (replaced mine-but it's not necessary); and the crystal along with the dark face pruduces lots of glare (I see the importance of having a sapphire crystal). Overall, I love it. The watch was delivered on-time, just as promised!
This is a railroad legacy timepiece. My grandfather gave me a Hamilton RR pocket watch and this new Hamilton wrist watch just made sense. The size is 44 or 45 mm in diameter which is a excellent size for a wrist watch. The hour and minute hands have glowing tips as well as each hour mark. The exhibition back is always a positive for someone who appreciates the craftsmanship of a fine watch movement. The exaggerated date window is awesome as I don't have to squint to see what the date is. This should be an heirloom much like grandfathers pocket watch.
