The necklace itself is beautiful but the length even fully extended is a very short tight 17 inches. I went to a jeweler and had sterling silver extensions of 3 in. each put on either side. Unfortunately that almost doubled the overall cost of the necklace but made it wearable rather than having to return it. If you want to wear it shorter- now you can.
This necklace is very lovely, although I did have issues. The diamond at the bottom was broken and was out. The stone was very small, looked almost like a sequins, but I knew that wasn't the case because of the Diamond in the title of the necklace. The one I kept had the diamond in it, but it was quite cloudy. I really preferred to have no diamond. The marcasites are all around the edge of the stone, those are not diamond chips. There was one diamond at the bottom, a small diamond chip. It really hurt the necklace being so small in appearance and either broken or cloudy. I did keep one though to match the earrings. The color of the stone was sharp and clear, not a whole lot of green, mostly at the bottom. The other necklace had a nice amount of green, but was cloudy and had no diamond at all and that would have been ok, but there was a gaping hole now without a diamond chip. They should never have put the diamond chip in. The chain was a good sturdy chain. I don't think it was too dainty. One other reviewer, I believe it was, thought the chain was dainty. I didn't think so and it was exactly 18 inches, which was a perfect length for this modest petite necklace. A very lovely set. Only 4 stars because there were issues, I did keep one set and figured no one would really notice any defect because it wasn't a huge gaudy set. It was very modest and sweet looking.
I ordered this necklace believing that the moonstone was a natural gemstone. I went to Starfish Project website and it is described there as a "moonstone crystal". This means that it is a lab created crystal stone, not a natural gemstone. When held to the light I can see two tiny bubbles (which occur during manufacturing) and there are no inclusions (which are found in natural moonstone). Another test is the temperature of the stone (it is not as cold as a genuine moonstone). I was really disappointed, and may return the item. All that being said, it is a lovely design, size and appearance. The one time I wore this necklace I received many comments and compliments. Now that I am over my initial disappointment, I may keep it. Just know that it is not a natural gemstone, but is a "genuine moonstone crystal" which is a nice way of saying "not a natural gemstone".
