I got my ring today and my first thought was WOW. I love it! It is even more lovely in person. I got the red diamond and the main stone is larger than expected and has a deep garnet red tone with a lot of sparkle. The diamonds are tiny a little milky but they sparkle really nicely and the setting is just fantastic. It is set a bit high and would definitely catch on jeans. Sadly the main red diamond stone is scratched on the edge near a prong. The flaw is tiny and only apparent under CLOSE inspection. It is hard to tell if it is dirt or a flaw but with closer inspection it is clearly a minor flaw. For a more expensive ring or one that I wasn't so enamored with I would return it but this one is so lovely I forgive the minor imperfection. Most of my friends don't carry around jeweler's loupes. (I said most.) Without the flaw I would say this is a 5 star ring for the price but with it I give it 4 stars. Diamonds are a girls best friend.
The photo is accurate, style great, the weight is good.. but the diamond chips are poor. I ordered this ring in gold after contemplating between white gold or yellow - mistake #1 Gold doesn't set well with the chip diamonds. I also took the other reviewers advice to order up in size - mistake #2. . I am 6 1/2 - 3/4 and 7's usually fit me fine. This 7 was swimming on my finger. Also I felt the diamonds were lacking any kind of luster or sparkle. I understand these are chips, expected, but my ring had negative bling. For 2 grand, bling is expected. Maybe this was my ring.. seems the reviews are hit and miss on the same issue. I have to return at this price.. Which btw.. is a BIG pain ola. I have purchased tons of items on overstock for 5+ years. Fine Jewelry I will pass on from now often. Well at least I gave it a shot! $** dollars for insured shipping down the drain.
I gave it a 4 star rating because the shipping was bad. It was supposed to be here on a Tuesday and it came on a Friday. I've had other promise rings that I wear on my right hand. With the setting being higher on this one, you can see the diamond clearer. I am not sure if it really is .5 carats because .5 would mean 1/2 of 1. I don't know what to compare that with in size. I tried comparing it with my other diamond that I thought is a bit smaller, but couldn't really tell. It does have a nice sparkle to it. It would be great for a proposal and then you could upgrade if she says yes. It's also great for those high school couples. It could also be used for a purity ring. I have been studying the 4 C's a bit for diamonds and I knew this wouldn't be a very clear stone. But it's still a diamond and I think it is more than a diamond chip as it has been described as before. It is small, but I have seen diamond chips and this is quite a bit different than a diamond chip.
Ring looks as good as the picture. The only problem I had was I needed a smaller size. I ended up giving the ring to my Mother and she loves it. I ordered my usual size 5 but I needed a size 4 or 4 1/2. the stone kept swinging to the side or back of my finger. Glad my Mom could wear it because it is a very pretty ring.
