My name is I Wayan Dirga and I was born in Denpasar, Bali in 1969. Most of my family members are carvers and from there I could see how carving had become the main line of work in my family. Instantly I had the ability to carve by seeing them work everyday. Balinese culture inspires me in creating wood carvings. There are many problems in the carver's uncertain life. One of the problems is it is hard to sell my works since I am not the only one who has the ability of carving wood. I'm grateful for what Novica is doing to promote artisans' works to the whole world. Novica is a company that cares about the existence of the small artisan. Hopefully, my art works will be accepted and I'm waiting for any critic to improve my work.
