I Made Wirata is a Balinese man was born on February 21st 1978 in the village of Kemenuh, Gianyar, Bali. He is one of many wood carvers in Bali. The regency of Gianyar has been known since many years ago as a place that produce famous Balinese artist and artisans. I Made Wirata first learned to make wooden carving from his father whose specialized on carving 'sri bunga' (name of carving) and keris (Balinese traditional weapon) carving. Graduated from Elementary School, Young Wirata learned to carve traditional image from his uncle until completed his study at Secondary School. That wasn't all, in 1993, his interest on art made him learn to create modern carving from his cousin, then make use of his skill to support his study. His creations collected by several galleries in Bali.
