I purchased one for the 7 of my windows. We put one up and after realizing it would need some major adjustments stopped. It works ok but I wish the fit was better.

The glue used to stick the liner onto the blind was old and cracked off in powdery bits. Sort of made it work with the nails they provided but it would be hard to make it work if I didn't have bamboo blinds with the wooden top.

The liner works well to block the transparency of the blinds. I bought several to cover all of the blinds in our house. If the liner was the right size, it was pretty easy to install. I had a few that the glue on the Velcro had dried out. I had to cut and hem several to make them fit my blinds. Overall, I am pleased with the product.

These are just ok. They are a little too thick and heavy. They do provide privacy but they don't fold up consistently. If privacy is your main concern, they're fine. I used them on petit rustique bamboo blinds on a street facing window and I will keep them, but I would recommend for windows not facing the street if you're picky about a seamless look. The install is fine, a little time consuming for numerous windows.

Here's the dichotomy with these privacy liners: the quality is good; the fabric is decent and they have all the necessary parts to install but almost no instructions and when I called the support # to get help with attaching them properly nobody there knew how to install them either. You'd think they'd install easily but not so and I'm still looking for someone to help me figure them out.

I went in purchasing this product knowing full well that they did not have the exact size I needed, so the company can't be blamed that the liner is not an exact fit. However, It covers enough of the blind to provide privacy. The quality is good, but the fabric could be a bit more opaque. If you are looking for room darkening, then you don't want these. It's somewhat easy to infall, but not quite as easy as I expected. Once, I figured it out it wasn't too bad. I only wish the company carried a better variety of sizes.

  • Privacy Perfection!
    Verified Purchase

As much as I like the look of my bamboo blinds, I don't like how people outside can see in, so I thought I'd try this relatively cheap alternative to finding new blinds with the same look and more privacy. These work perfect! It comes with lots of little clips and such, but all we did was hammer the cloth to the back of the blinds, with nails that already come packed in with the blinds and hang them back on the wall. That's it. Nothing else to do. The liners rolls up with the blinds, and the whole thing works seamlessly, but with added privacy that we didn't have before. Now when the blinds are closed, we can't see out and no one can see in. When the blinds are closed during the day, it kind of looks like snow outside, since the blinds are white, but they completely block the outside out, while still letting some light in. Highly recommended!

The linner works for what I purchased it to do. I wanted to give my bamboo shade some privacy and insulating value. I was not able to get the shade in the exact width of my shade so I order a little smaller. This worked for my application because the liner was as wide as my window. The liner was easy to install. They come with adhesive to help with the installation and on one of the shade the adhesive was dried up. I considered sending it back up you are also give nailed to attach the liner with. I used a stable gun instead and put in more stables to be sure the liner stayed in place. Because I can sew I could have purchased the wider liner and cut it down to fit. I am very happy with the function and look of these liners.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"I understand that cutting these will void the warranty but for those of you who did cut the down, how did you do it? Did you remove all of the rods that are sewn in or did you cut those somehow and re-insert them? I was thinking that this was just a piece of fabric but didn't realize that they came with rods sewn in. Does removing the rods have a negative impact on the performance of the liner?"

    • A:

Hello Rachel S., we can appreciate the fact you want a firsthand account of the product. You will receive an email notification every time you get a response. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • A:

Rachel, there are no rods in the liners. They are only just fabric with little fabric loops in the back that you attach plastic hooks to. The hook also attaches to the pull strings on your existing roman blind, allowing them to lift and lower together. So I don't think cutting them down will have a negative effect, other than having a cut edge without a finished seam. Hope that helps!

  • Q:

"I note several references to the liner fraying if cut. Is there any reason the cut edge cannot be hemmed or sewn with an overlock stitch?"

    • A:

Hello gardenbrew, We do not recommend cutting the privacy liners as the fabric will fray. If you need to alter the privacy liner what we have had in the past from other customers is to tape the edge to be cut and try hemming with fabric glue, the tape will keep it from fraying. However, making altercations to this will void any warranty and cannot be returned. Have a good day!

  • Q:

"I need 16" wide blinds for some doors I have. Can I buy the smallest width liner you carry and cut it down to work?"

    • A:

Hi rusticnlovinit, it is not recommended that you cut these liners. The ends where it is cut will fray. Thanks for shopping with us! S.R.

  • Q:

"Someone already asked this question but I didn't understand the answer. If the liner is placed on the side of the shade that faces the interior of the room, it defeats the purpose of a decorative shade. If it is meant to be installed between the shade and the window that seems to make more sense. Please explain where the liner is installed on the shade."

    • A:

Hello kkinsc10, the privacy liners are for the roman shades only. When installed on the roman shade, some goes to the back side. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • Q:

"I have a 52 in wide roman shade, what size liner would I use?"

    • A:

Hi monkey2127, we would suggest to get 2 of the 27 inch liners and have them overlap. I hope this helps, thanks for shopping with us.

    • A:

I ordered a liner about 4" less than my shade, as the shade is outside mounted. Only two inches of shade on each side, which overlaps the window frame anyway, won't be lined.

  • Q:

"I have 70 in. wide roman shades. Is it possible to attach two 35 in. liners to the back of one 70 in. wide shade?"

  • Q:

"will there ever be additional sizes offered, to match other shade sizes? I want to buy them for all of my windows, but none of my widths are here..."

    • A:

Hello sarajane01, unfortunately, the only sizes we provide are the ones listed. If this changes, we will update the site. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Can it be attached to roll up solar blinds, and will it provide privacy to the interior at night when it'll be brighter inside than outside? I didn't realize it would be so sheer at night."

    • A:

Hi halek, the White Privacy Liner will not work if attached to roll up solar blinds. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Thank you for shopping with us!

    • A:

  • Q:

"Can these be used over 2" faux wood blinds?"

Hello Unichic! The liner lowers and rises with the shades to provide privacy. Yes the White Privacy Liner will work with your blinds and lift along with your blinds. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • Q:

"does it go on the inside (towards inside room) or does it go on the outside (toward the window, towards the exterior)? I am asking because I like the color/look of the bamboo on the inside of my house?"

    • A:

Hi kirsten27, this item is meant to be used on the interior of the shades. While it may be possible to apply it tot he exterior we do not recommend it. Thanks for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Hi, i already bought blinds from Home Depot, so will the privacy liner work? Other question is can the liner be lifted separately from the blinds or will they always be lifted together? How do they lift, separate cord or just along with the blinds? Thanks, RV"

    • A:

Hello rvlovesbling, The liner lowers and rises with the shades to provide privacy. Yes the White Privacy Liner will work with your blinds and lift along with your blinds. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • Q:

"I want to use this liner with the Riviera Natural/Black Banding Bamboo Roman Shades that I bought from Overstock http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Riviera-Natural-Black-Banding-Bamboo-Roman-Shade/7942690/product.html. Will these work? I have already put the shades up with some in mount and some out-mount. Will these work with both types of mounting? Also, should I buy the same size liners as the shades or go an inch less? Thanks"

    • A:

Hello rachelnr, these connect directly to the shade so the inside and outside mount should work fine with both. The liner is designed to be the same size as your shade so buying the size of your shade is the best bet for total coverage. I hope this has helped you. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"How does it clip to the existing shade? It looks like velcro in the photo."

    • A:

Thank you for shopping with us adamswrite. It attaches with a hook and loop closure. Have a great day.

  • Q:

"I have 34"X 54" bamboo blinds. I see yo have the 34" width but the only length you have is 72". Do you carry shorter lengths or can I still use the longer length?"

    • A:

Thank you for your question tessaw. Unfortunately, that length is not manufactured. The privacy liners are all 72 inches in length. Also, for privacy liners we do not advise cutting them, since they will fray. Have a great day.

  • Q:

"Do these liners block out light? I have bamboo shades in my bedroom and I am considering buying these liners to block out light."

    • A:

Hello fionaann8, thank you for your interest in the White Privacy Liner. Light filtering provides privacy and energy-efficient insulation qualities. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"Can these liners be used alone, without shades to attach them to? What kind of mounting hardware comes with them?"

    • A:

Hello eloiseat6, these liners clip to your shade. I hope this helps you. Thank you for shopping with us.

  • Q:

"How does the product attach to the shades? If I am buying a 36" shade, should I buy a 36" liner or a 35"?"

    • A:

Hello, this liner clips on to your blinds. I would suggest buying a liner the same size as your blinds to get total coverage.
