I've got a modern, open floor-plan house, and this piece is the right style. It's more expensive than it's worth -- it's made of fairly thin, probably recycled metal -- but it has a good look. It has two levels, with one being unpainted metal and the other painted. The photo gives the painted level more of an orange appearance when it looks maroon in real life, with some yellowish-orange highlights. I was going to hang it on a two-story wall, but I changed my mind quickly when I saw how sharp the metal edges are. I actually slashed my hand while taking it out of the box. Not enough for stitches, but I hardly brushed against the edge. If it fell on someone or a pet, it would do serious damage even though it weighs only 10-15 pounds. Mine also arrived slightly damaged. Some of the strips were bent (and were easily bent back), but one of the heavy wire frames that hold it together had broken at the weld. Luckily, I did not need to anchor it to the wall from that strip, so it's no big deal, and any decent welder could patch it in a few seconds. If you're looking for something to go in a less traveled corner of a room, this will work, but it doesn't quite have the scale or color for a larger wall.
Adds sparkle and detail to my living room wall. We hung it vertically, which works well and also looks nice. Didn't have the issues of some reviews with many dirty mirrors. There are some marks here and there but not noticable unless you look. Great for my mid century modern living room.
