These tiles are made of a compact fiber board (essentially cardboard), so are very light weight and pliable. The pattern side is very smooth and takes paint beautifully. The back side has the pressed board texture, as you can see in the first posted image. There are no instructions included, so you have to decide your approach in installing. We used "killer red" double stick tape http://www.brontapes.com/product/bt-3854-original-killer-red/ as it is VERY bonding, super thin and we didn't have to worry about anything dripping as we climbed up a very tall ladder to install. Installing is super simple - just line them up - however they bow slightly in the middle, or are cut ever so very slightly off, causing a small gap in most tile applications. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Cutting is possible with a very sharp utility knife and steady hand (what we did since only needed to cut two at the very top of the ceiling), or on a table saw (best for pinpoint straight accuracy). The final image is our completed wall after painting...stunning! You wouldn't know that they are made of cardboard. A real bargain for the effect they create and the easy of installing. It took us 4 hours total, including paint time.
My husband and I have been looking to purchase/install 3D wall panels in our home since we purchased it last year. We're currently working on the game-room in our basement and decided to do a feature wall with panels. After looking at a variety of styles, we decided on the 3D Brick panels (because we haven't seen them anyplace else, unlike the wavy pattern panels that we see almost every time we turn on HGTV). The Overstock.com price on the panels is the best we've been able to find after looking on Wayfair, Amazon, and at several modern/contemporary stores in the DC Metro area. The panels are sturdy and add uniqueness and depth to our game room. I would have given them a "5 star" rating but they didn't come pre-glued/pasted. That would have made them PERFECT.
These are beautifully made. I have not installed them yet because I am intimidated to do so! Written instructions included with the panels shipment would have been appreciated. To match up edges, do I trim the flat edges? Does one edge slip under the other for gluing purposes? Help! The product itself is excellent. The three star rating is due to lack of instructions.
