Nice idea, not so great! Assembly is a challenge. We had to anchor it to the wall for stabilization and after a couple of months, the top bars spread and the wine bottles fell to the lower cubby.

  • Great product, difficult assembly

This wine rack looks great. It has an unfinished, winery-type look to it. It would look good in a kitchen, dining room, or even in the basement where this rack makes it look like we have a true wine cellar! The assembly isn't overly difficult, but the instructions could be clearer. For example, I did not realize until after I had assembled the product that the "back braces" have notches (they are not the flat wooden pieces - those are the crown/base). My biggest complaint, however, is the quality of the nails included with the product. The nails are cheap and several of mine bent while trying to hammer them in. The hard wood is not easy to hammer nails into and it is quite difficult to keep the pieces lined up while banging heavily on the whole assembly. As a result, my rack is slightly off-balance because not all of the vertical pieces are lined up evenly on the bottom. The cheapness of the nails also causes the rack to be unsteady/not solid. When you hammer one nail in, it requires so much force that other nails start to come loose. For this reason, and also possibly just due to the use of nails instead of screws, the rack does not feel very secure standing on its own. The set came with anchors to drill the rack to the wall. We drilled it directly into the studs in the wall and it is relatively secure that way, though I would not feel comfortable putting bottles of wine on the top without filling the entire bottom section first. It's worth noting that the screws used for the anchors were very easy to drill in and felt very secure. If I was to do it over again, I would probably buy some very thin, long screws and use those to assemble the rack rather than the cheap nails that were included (assuming that the pieces of wood are thick enough to support a screw - you would need to test that out). Despite the frustrating assembly and less-than-solid quality of this rack, it is very attractive and is exactly what I was looking for in terms of style, size and practicality. I would buy it again but I feel that the price should be a little lower given the cheap quality of the hardware.

Bought this to go into a small closet and works perfectly. Very excited about the having a wine rack. The price was a little high, but with free shipping, I guess it was worth it.
