It looks really modern with our live edge dining table with sheesham wood top. It is really comfortable seating - our guests are really enjoying these chairs in our vacation home.

Mixed Review

The delivery, assembly & style of this chair would earn it 5 stars if that was all the criteria for judging it. First, it arrived earlier than expected via UPS, which is the only carrier that will consistently deliver to your door anymore. Second, the assembly only requires you to open the box, remove the 3 items (chair, base, hydraulic piece), and then connect the chair to the base with the hydraulic unit in between. No tools or hardware are necessary. Other chairs I've purchased have required the handle apparatus to be screwed in, but that has already been done with this chair. Finally, it looks exactly like the photo. It's got clean lines, a stylish appearance, the wood grain is nice, the base is a shiny chrome, and the fabric has no blemishes and looks like it will hold up well with proper care. When I was looking for a chair, several things were important to me aside from price and appearance. I wanted a swivel chair, casters were not necessary, it needed to be sturdy (I'm not a slim person), the seat dimensions should come close to my old chair (a standard office supply store black chair), and a seat height that worked well with my desk. I would've also liked a non-chrome base since the accents on my desk are brassy, but that was difficult to find so I crossed it off the list. I also liked the lack of arm rests, even though that wasn't on my original list of must-haves. In January I purchased a new desk, replacing an old glass-topped desk from that 4-letter big box store. My old chair's arm rests would frequently scrape across the edge of the glass when I swiveled, but it didn't leave a mark. My new desk is made of wood, so I had to be hyper-vigilant about the arm rests to avoid scraping the wood. Therefore, the lack of arm rests with this chair is a bonus. So, this chair met all the other criteria, although I am now re-thinking some of it. I like the lack of casters because my old chair didn't roll well on the rug under it anyway. However, because the chair is sturdy (as hoped), it is also quite heavy. So, if you do want to move it away from or closer to your desk, it requires some effort. It won't just "skooch over" a little bit. Once I had the chair in place relative to the desk, printer table and wall, I realized it was still a bit too far away for comfortable use, so I literally dragged the desk closer as that was easier than getting up and sitting down numerous time to see if the placement was right yet. The seat dimensions are the same as my old chair, and even though the seat is round while my other was square, I don't find that to be an issue, even with my ample proportions. I actually like the feeling of the wrap-around back rather than the straight back of my old chair. What is different is that the edge of the seat, which reaches me around the back of my mid-thigh, is quite hard. I don't mind the firmness of the seat, but I find myself constantly adjusting my rear and legs to allow for the uncomfortable feeling at the back of my thighs. I rigged up a footstool (visible in the photo). I placed a pillow on top of a wicker basket, and it's too high to be used indefinitely, but I'll try it for a few days before I spend money on a real stool or ottoman. Finally, the height. My old chair had a maximum height of about 19" which has been ideal; however, the brand I purchased is notorious for having issues with the hydraulics over time. I've owned the chair for over 5 years, and within the last few months I've noticed I've had to reset the chair to its highest setting more often than I'd like. It will be fine for days or weeks, and then one day I'll feel it slowly sink over the course of a few minutes. I may reset it 2-5 times that day, and then it'll stay there for days or weeks. This chair, at its lowest point, is about 19" (I don't have the info in front of me but I think it may actually be 18.5"). I figured that would be perfect because if the hydraulics were to start malfunctioning and it stayed at its lowest point, I would still be at the right height for my desk. After setting up the chair, I tried it at its highest point, and my feet dangled! I'm 5'6" so that was surprising. I didn't have any issues with leg room under my desk at that height, but I didn't think having my feet off the floor was the best posture for working all day. So, I decided to find a middle ground. There is none! While sitting in the chair, it will, of course, go all the way down if you press the handle. No matter your weight, I'm sure. Because of the chair's sturdiness, it has been impossible for me to merely press down on the chair to lower it a little from its maximum height. And, conversely, when it's at its lowest level, I have been unsuccessful with getting it to raise up a little bit; it only goes to its highest point. I've tried it several times over the course of an afternoon and the next morning, and I hope to find the trick to resolving this. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, even if it ends up being an extra seating option in my living room rather than my daily-use office chair. My 3 stars account for the difficulty in moving the chair around when used at a desk, as well as the all-or-nothing hydraulics that result in its use at only the highest or lowest levels. I would happily add back a star for each of these if I can find a solution. Your mileage may vary, as they say, since we all have different criteria for what we want in a chair.

Desk Chair
Product Option: N/A
I bought this chair to use at my desk because I don't really care for the look of the typical desk chair. It has been great but after a few years of use, the bracket supporting the chair to the stand broke. It looks great though, but maybe not for every day use.

Chairs look great; Quality+Packaging Questionable
Product Option: N/A
We ordered 2 of these chairs to create a small sitting space, along with a small table, for having a cocktail or playing a game of chess. We were excited about the retro-look (huge fans of Mad Men!) and thought the leather on the chairs would match our slightly off-white leather sofa in the adjacent living room.,
,,,,,
The boxes arrived and looked like they had been through a hurricane. They were quite beat up. Upon opening them, there was no padding or peanuts or anything of the like inside. Instead the chair portion was wrapped in a thin layer of dirty bubble wrap and the other pieces were in separate "compartments" in the box.,
,,,,,,,,,,,,
Assembly was easy, and the leather was nice and soft, however once the chairs were put together we noticed some damages. One of the chairs had a noticible nick on the back, where the wood finish was peeling off. Both of them had some dirty spots, and the tape holding the bubble wrap onto the chairs, had been stuck directly to the leather, leaving some adhesive and dirt on the leather itself.,
,,,,,,,
I called customer service and they were very helpful, offered to provide a return UPS label and ship out new chairs the following day. I indicated that there was no protection in the shipment and that the tape had been stuck to the leather itself, and the representative said she would notify the warehouse.,
,,,,,,,,,,,
The new shipment arrived a few days later, The same packaging issues existed, the only difference being that there were bright orange "fragile" stickers on each package. There was still no padding and the bubble wrap was again taped to the leather. Nonetheless we put the chairs together and hoped for the best.,
,,,,,,,,,,,
One of them was completely broken. The back was hanging on to the seat by a little bit of glue and wouldn't sit on the base straight. Fortunately we had not yet sent back the other two chairs, so rather than having to start from square one to find new chairs (since we really liked the look of these and they are probably more likely to be looked at than sat in) or dealing with shipping back more chairs through customer service, we decided to keep the best of the four we had and hope that leather cleaner will take care of the stains.,
,,,,,,,,,,,
It is highly unlikely that we will order furniture from Overstock again!
