I have owned several vacuums over the years and this one by far is the BEST vacuum of all! We LOVE our DYSON Big Ball Animal Upright Vacuum! It is amazing how much suction this vacuum has. I never cease to be amazed at how much comes out of our rugs and furniture and I consider myself extremely OCD about keeping my home white glove clean. I don't know where all the dirt and lint comes from, but this vacuum does a great job of getting everything! With many vacuums, when you need to use the attachments, it is a struggle to do so. With some of the expensive vacuums, you have to remove or detach the head in order to attach the hose and then attach individual tools; but, this isn't the case with Dyson. The hose is easily pulled from the handle and you simply attach the tool you wish to use. When you are finished using the tools, the hose can be easily placed back into the handle area and you are ready to use the vacuum head again. You can see the dirt receptacle so you can easily tell when it is getting full. And, when the receptacle is full, you can easily detach it from the vacuum with a simple press of a button. It has a convenient open handle on it you can use to easily carry the receptacle to wherever it is you choose to empty it. Depending on the weather, I prefer to step out onto my deck or into our garage to open the receptacle over a bag so I need not worry about the dirt or dust becoming airborne when I do this. The receptacle is enclosed and all you need to do is to press a trigger button which opens the spring loaded Bottom of the container causing it to empty. I just tie the bag off after doing this and toss it into the garbage and the receptacle is ready to be easily placed back onto the vacuum. It is very easy to empty. This vacuum comes with all the necessary tools for keeping your rugs, blinds, upholstery, and floor edges clean and dust free. I don't know about you, but I prefer to let my vacuum do the work instead of me and the Dyson has become my favorite vacuum of all time.
I have had two Hoover upright WindTunnel bagged vacuums (self-propelled with HEPA filter) for thirteen years--one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I have loved them. However, one of our vacuums just died, and I ordered as its replacement what should have been the same thing . Unfortunately, the new vacuum is not of the same caliber. The old vacuum really sucked up the dirt--the embedded dirt finder was constantly alerting to dirt when I vacuumed our carpet. The new vacuum--set to the same lowest carpet setting--just seems to glide over the carpet, hardly ever indicating embedded dirt. Hoover has also changed the way the small beater brush is affixed to the vacuum when it's not in use. Formerly, the brush simply snapped into its depression on the vacuum; now neither my very mechanically inclined husband nor I can figure out how to get it to attach easily. Overall, I'm disappointed with the new vacuum.
