Deliberated for a long time before buying one of these because I had read that the battery does not last very long. I bought a refurbished one, and I added the three-year protection plan, because the cost of the comprehensive plan is probably less than the shipping I'd have to pay just to send it back if it broke. It's much lighter than I thought it would be, hmm, I thought that meant that it would not be sturdy, but it has taken a bashing from me using it on hardwood, carpet, rugs, and tiled floors and it worked like a charm. Will it give you the suction of a big heavy stand-up vacuum? Probably not, but for doing a quick pass around the house this thing is awesome. It has a MAX button on the handle that allows you greater suction, but it will run the battery down much faster. I got a quick pass done on the living room, dining room, kitchen, up one set of stairs, down the hallway, quick pass on three bedrooms, and then down the other stairs before it needed to re-charge, so about 12-15 mins on one charge. One thing I did wrong was to press the lever to empty the canister, it opened from the bottom, like a trap door, dumping all of the dirt right onto my feet. I thought from the diagram in the manual that it would release the entire canister, so watch out for that. Overall, a great little machine that is light and fast, great for spills and pick-ups. The smaller nozzle will let you take pet hair off blankets etc, but you have to work at it, especially if it's built up over time; the bristles are fixed on the little head and I had to pull the hair off repeatedly to allow the suction to pull it in to the canister. That said, nothing can take embedded pet hair off in one go without a bit of elbow grease, so I wouldn't ding this machine for that. If I did it more regularly then it wouldn't be this big job once a month... One thing I did not realize until I actually had the machine was that without the long attachment, this vacuum cleaner becomes a hand-held, dirt-buster-type of vacuum, this is very, very, handy for using on cloth sofas, or curtains, unlike fixed vacuums that always topple over when you over-reach with the hose that is still connected to the stand-up-fall-over vacuum cleaner. Also note, that the machine will only run when you press the button, there is no on-off switch. Some people don't like this feature, but I think it's very efficient because if it stayed on all of the time you'd lose precious battery time just moving it from one place to the other. Every time you take your finger off the button (like a trigger) it stops the machine and saves the battery. You'll get the hang of it in seconds and see that it's saving energy. Would definitely buy again.
This is a great vacuum. I have hardwood floors in my entire house and if I work fast I can vacuum the whole thing on one charge. I was using swiffers before- this keeps things much cleaner.
