The base is made of some kind of sheet metal like aluminum whicih is pressed into shape adn painted. The look is ok (i hate the outer ridge that makes it obvious this is metal and a bit cheep but i think i am the only one who sees that. The thing that i dont like about it is that when i was screwing the mounting screws to the light base they seem to bend the sheetmetal on teh base when you tighten them down. it should have had a couple washers to make the screws fit better to the base as t felt like if i screwed hard enough it would rip right thru. Same with the long archor bolt that holds the glass to the base. you can feel it bending the base if you screw it in tightly. I was hoping this wasnt metal, you couldnt tell from the pic or the description. Seems most lights are made this way. It looks pretty enough from a distance and no one but me is getting close enough to see those faults i mention so its probably going to be fine and over time i suspect i will grow to like it. (that is unless it fallls out of ceiling when i change the bulbs... lets hope not.

The product was as advertised. My electrician took a bit longer to install since he had to place a wood bar before putting fixture in.

This product fit my needs exactly. A very good product for the price. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was that the instructions did not match how the product was to be installed. They were very vague and some steps were out of order.
