I've never bought from Overstock before, and the idea of buying a mattress without trying it out was outrageous. But the value convinced me to go ahead and order, I'm so glad I did.Love this firm organic mattress

This is our 3rd Spaldin mattress from Overstock in a year. The other 2 are Memory Plus queens. We have been updating all mattresses in the house. I wanted to try the Tubes mattress b/c of the cooling factor, although I don't really find the Memory Plus mattress to retain heat. I am very disappointed as my back is hurting on this one every night ! I am a back sleeper though, so maybe that is it. My husband is not complaining. The previous reviewer was correct when they said it is more firm, and does not really feel like a memory foam mattress. It needs more memory foam as the top layer. The price was so close to the Memory Plus, so if you are a back sleeper and like a more "plush" feel, I would definitely go with that one instead. (I love the Memory Plus by Spaldin !) Hopefully, one of the kids will find the Tubes mattress comfortable or we will sell it.

  • Non toxic mattress is more firm than soft

This mattress is good for people who sleep on their sides and like a very firm lumbar support mattress that is also environmentally friendly. I chose this mattress because my husband and I both sleep on our sides and are concerned with exposure to toxic chemicals. After spending months lying on every mattress at every furniture store in Massachusetts the only mattress we could agree on was a latex model that cost three grand. Since we couldn't afford that I decided to look online. We were looking for the support of latex without the hefty price tag. After researching many foam and latex mattress companies and comparing prices online I decided to purchase this mattress. Pros: as described this mattress comes with a very nice removable organic cotton cover that looks just like the picture, it does not retain heat like most memory foam mattresses, it has no chemical smell, it is 10 inches in height, it is made in Spain so it does not contain toxic chemical fire retardants, the sides and ends are reinforced with a very firm layer so it does not collapse if you sit on the edge. Cons: this mattress is very heavy and does not have handles so you will need at least two strong individuals to move it, the mattress needs a slatted or platform bed base (it will not work on a box spring foundation), it is NOT vacuum sealed in plastic and is very heavy so it is more likely to sustain damage in shipping, it does not feel as though it has 2 inches of memory foam as the top layer. Both my husband and myself were in extreme pain trying to sleep on the mattress for the first few nights because it is so firm. We quickly decided that we had to go to a local store and bought a smelly 2.5 inch 4 lb memory foam topper. My husband is now comfortable but I am just OK. I am thinking that I may eventually buy a thicker latex/foam topper. I have to add that this mattress does not feel like any other mattress I have ever lay on. It is not bouncy like a spring mattress but you will not sink in like a memory foam mattress. It really does feel like sleeping on foam tubes of varying softness as seen in the picture. Also of note, the first delivery I received from UPS was damaged because the shipping box was destroyed in transit so I refused it and I had an awful time getting UPS to return it to Overstock. Customer service did assist me with the problem and eventually shipped out a new mattress once again through UPS. The second mattress was not damaged but the box it came in was just barely holding together when I received it.
