I'd mostly like to make this comment to the buyer/reviewer who doesn't like their "grout wall". I too have a "grout wall" shower surround thanks to my contractor/tile sub installing it INCORRECTLY!!! and I most likely will rip mine out eventually too. It is NOT a product problem! Installing pebble tile is a more labor intensive process than other mosaic tiles. I ended up doing the grout work on my other two shower stalls myself (new home construction with 3 baths). My tile guy did it WRONG and it's awful. It takes a soft/spongey grout float to push the grout into and behind the pebble spaces, then loads of pushing, squishing it back with that spongey float, then a wallpaper brush to brush away much of the wet grout, only THEN using a finishing sponge to press away the stratches made in the wet grout by the brush. So a 2-3 step grout prcess becomes a 5-6 step process grouting pebble tile - at least in MY personal experience. But I know it's possible as my other shower stall pebbles look amazing. "Pebble walls" with grout, not "grout walls" with "peek-a-boo pebble faces". This product does end up showing the 12" squares the tiles are made into, as they do/did not have "interlocking edges". As long as there isn't too much grout in the first place, those lines look fine. And the advantage is that the outer edges (against the floor/tub/stall edge) are straight and not scalloped.
Installed on our shower floor. River rocks did have a thick waxy finish on them but did not affect install, probably helps repel water? Only negative was interlocking seams did not fit togther well so grout lines where they meet is noticeable. This detracts from natural feel of the rocks.
Well attached to the mesh backing. No broken tiles in the boxes (shipped safely). Biggest complaint: I needed 50sf of product and the boxes claim to be 1 sf per sheet (though actually 11.5 or 11.75" each). But I needed 56 sheets to complete my project, not 50. This because the sheets 'interlock' since they are laid in 'running bond', and the overall size is under 11.5" square. So I needed 12% more tile sheets than advertized. THIS is a significant amount. Fortunately Overstock still had more and I could order an additional box to complete the project, and the shipping was VERY fast. If Overstock had been done with this product before I ordered the additional box I would have had a real problem. The product advertizing needs to be accurate on this.
I am very happy about how this looks now that it is installed BUT as others have said, it doesn't look like the pictures. There isn't as much variation in the tiles and overall I would say the installed floor is a light blue and not the dramatic varigated blue/green I was expecting. It might be the way it was installed, but I don't have the distinct golden circle around each little "button" of tile that you see in the pictures or on the sheet of tiles in the box. All that said, now that it is in I love it and it looks great and unique. There was no need for that extra bit that contractors add on to the actual floor measurements since all pieces sort of interlock. I had a full box leftover and Overstock was great about accepting my return. It could not have been any easier. They even paid for the return postage without deducting it from my refund which was a nice surprise.
