I almost opted to buy another chandelier but after reading the reviews, I decided to go with this one. This fixture is FLUSH. Meaning it will attach to your ceiling and it does not hang so if you have high ceilings, it will look weird. We live in a small apartment in NYC so our living room is tiny and this added just enough glam. I am so in love with this chandelier. Putting the crystals on was easy the hardest part was installing it. Only one part would go through. The weight and the light bouncing off the crystals was rather frustrating for my husband but after many tries we succeeded. It will take two people to put this together.

This chandelier is very nice looking. The picture doesn't do it justice. It does take some time to assemble it because you have to individually unwrap and affix each crystal to the fixture. It is worth it. Recommend.

Heavy crystals.. I hung them after the actual light was installed. Was a little tricky... be sure to not install all the bulbs beforehand.. because you will burn yourself. Very pretty in my foyer.. gives off great light and a pretty design on the ceiling as well!

    • best light- just gorgeous!!

This light is in our guest bedroom which has 8 foot ceilings. I wanted flush mount, lots of light and something leaps more chic. Yes you do have to assemble the crystals- which takes some glasses, light and an hour. (I know this because I started and finished with the Ellen Show) Put together it looks just like we took it off an expensive showroom ceiling. It holds enough of a traditional feel but gives this amazing modern twist. It's so nice and bright. I put 4 60w reveal light bulbs in and even my husband was saying WOW. (that says something ladies) Definitely picking up a dimmer for this because it's that bright. The material around the cover isn't so much a material as a thinly spaced string. It sounds odd but creates a nice effect on the ceiling along with all of the crystals. Love it! The light does take two people to install. First I put the crystals on. I left the plastic on the material of the shade and gently took off after installing to avoid messing up the material during instal. Directions are bad- so the one crystal that is already together in the bag goes on the center point of the light. The rest are identical and go on any of the loops on the mirror like base. Also It does matter which end of the wire the Crystals attach to so pay attention to that. Tip: try not to pull apart the round rings that attach the crystals too much. I got lazy and was separating them too much. After the light was up I had a few crystals to reattach. I could have avoided that by just pushing the rings back together more instead of relying on the gap to hold the crystal in place. Once my hubby had the ceiling ready I held the light up while he put the ground / wires on. This is a little tricky with all of the crystals but not overwhelming. This is also when I was thankful to have the plastic on the light since that is exactly where I held the light. Fishing for the two screws that fit into the new light was the most difficult part, but somehow I got lucky. Hubby held the light in place while I screwed on the round silver knobs that hold the light to the ceiling mount. The total time : was one hour to attach crystals and 15 min to mount.

We put this up in our downstairs powder room & because we converted 2 coat closets as a half bath it is considerably smaller than normal. However, I painted the walls a rich ,coconut milk, cream from Valspar & added a very tiny but accomodating sink from Home Depot. With this light it makes the quaint space feel very chic & regal. The item includes everything you need to affix the item correctly along with extra crystals. I do have to say that applying the crystals to the line on top of affixing them to the base is very tedious. So much so, that my teenage daughter grew impatient with my struggles & offered to complete it all in exchange for an online album LOL. Done deal. It took less than half an hour to have everything up. I do want to emphasize that the crystals do not hang past the base. They are flush with the shade. All in all, a great investment & unregrettable purchase.

    • Pretty Glamour for a Petite Price.
      Verified Purchase

For the price it's fabulous. The crystals are actual glass crystal. Meaning they aren't plastic or something else. They are heavy and clear. They aren't as sparkling as Swarovski or other "high end" crystal BUT they still emit a sparkle nevertheless. The overall effect does NOT look cheap. It looks much more expensive than the listed price. However- when you put it together you can see WHY it's so cheap. BUT when it's all put together you can't tell. It is a pain to assemble. It wouldn't be a pain if you had time, a good movie and a beverage. However I was under a time constraint. The directions are worthless. It does matter which end you "clip" to the large crystal drop and to the top of the flush mount. Thankfully another reviewer pointed this out so I did pay attention to that. The cheapest part of the whole piece is the attachment pieces which holds each string to the top of the light. Hint: it is much easier to "hook" the top of the crystal string if you detach the attachment piece from the top - then sling the crystal string to it - then refasten the attachment piece. HOWEVER these things are the FLIMSIEST, CHEAPEST pieces of the whole entire light fixture. If you choose to do it this way be very careful for they break easily. You get one try. You can't re do it or it will break. THANKFULLY it comes with extras just incase. Also please note that the center string is shorter than the rest. The rest can go anywhere. My brother wired it to the ceiling for me. I helped him though as it takes two people. This was a pain. Is it worth it - YES!!!!! It emits beautiful light and the end product looks exquisite. Also the crystals DO hang lower than the "drum". I don't know why everyone says it is "flush" with the "drum". The large, bottom crystal hangs below the drum. Enjoy!

    • Gorgeous light!
      Verified Purchase

After reading the reviews I knew the light would be pretty... but it was better than expected. I also knew I'd have a couple of hours in to attach the crystals, NOT TRUE. Maybe if you're doing it in front of the TV it could take that long, but because I'm incredibly competitive I timed it... 36 minutes and the crystals were attached. My husband who does a fair amount of electric work had it installed in an additional 10 minutes (with me holding the light up while he attached the wires). I would definately recomment this item... it's very hard to find a pretty flush moount chandelier!

    • Pretty light - a lot of effort to install
      Verified Purchase

All the reviews I read before purchasing this light are accurate. It takes effort to prepare for installation. Based on these reviews, I did attach most of the crystals to the base before installing. However, I did not attach the nine crystals that are closest to the center, or where the screws from the ceiling attach to the light. I thought they would be in the way during installation, and I was right. They were not hard to attach after the light was installed, but I did need my husband to shine a flashlight because I would have gone blind keeping the light on while I worked. And although one reviewer said they removed the small loops from the base of the light before attaching the crystals, I don't think that's the way to go. It wasn't hard at all to attach the crystals to the loops on the base as delivered, and I think it would have been much harder to reattach the loops. Also, I took the advice of one reviewer and left the plastic on the shade during installation. While you have to be really careful when removing it after the fact, I am so glad we kept it on as it protected the strings of the shade from all the handling. The hardest part for us was actually attaching the light to the ceiling. It took us forever to line up the screws in the ceiling with the holes in the light base, with all the crystals hanging and especially because once the product is close to the ceiling, you lose all daylight between the product and the ceiling, so you are fishing in the dark for the screws. I can't even explain how we finally did it.....many tries and then some luck. So if you want to put in a lot of effort for a pretty light that really sparkles when lit, then you should consider this one.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"Can you use this fixture in a bathroom?"

      • A:

This fixture is rated for dry location, using it in a bathroom or damp location is not recommended because the hardware will be rusted easily.

      • A:

I wouldn't. Because of the crystal cut of the glass, the lighting is uneven. It looks great in my daughter's bedroom, but I wouldn't want to try to apply makeup with it!

      • A:

As already mentioned, there are crystals but my hang up would be the mirror underneath and steam or moisture. It's insanely beautiful in my closet.

    • Q:

"How do I attached the crystal to the center knob? I do not see side holes to put the ring through it?"

      • A:

You need to attach the crystal balls to straight hooks, then hang them from the tiny rings from the ceiling plate. You will receive the instructions separately.

    • Q:

"HI. How much does this weigh? Thanks"

      • A:

probably about 5 to 7 pounds once all the crystals are hung

      • A:

I can't say exactly how heavy but I don't recall the box being very heavy. Don't know what your concern is but according to me this is not a very heavy fixture. It's truly gorgeous though.

      • A:

I don't know how much it weights, but it is the most beautiful light that I have in my new home. It has a nice light (not too dim) and sparkles. It looks very elegant. I just love it! I would have to take it down to weigh it and the construction company mounted it for me so I don't know its weight. If I guessed from its lightweight frame and shade it does not weigh much. the only weight would be the crystals, which sparkle stunningly!

      • A:

The net weight of this lamp is 7 lbs, the gross weight is 10 lbs.

    • Q:

"can you use led bulbs instead?"

      • A:

Absolutely. I used the equivalent of 60W - LED Soft white.

      • A:

Of course. That's what we use - the 60W LED Soft White from Costco.

      • A:

Yes, we used LED lights also but the E12 size was difficult to find in our area. We had to order them off of **** and finding the right type on there was challenging as well.

    • Q:

"What is the length of the silver base that attaches to the wall."

      • A:

If you mean that "Attaches to the ceiling". This is a ceiling mount light. If you are asking how wide the silver circular base that attaches to the ceiling... it is 16" around.

      • A:

        This is a flush mount.

"Is there a video on how to install, we feel we are either missing a part or something isn't right. The instructions are horrible. "

      • A:

I don't know of a video. It is a more difficult than normal light to install, but not impossible. Can you be more specific about the problem you are having?

      • A:

You will be contacted by Customer Care.

      • A:

I don't know if there is a video available. I didn't have any problem installing it by myself. It probably would of helped if I had someone holding it while I attached it, but that was my only problem. Are you having problems installing it, or putting the crystals on? Putting the crystals on took a while.

      • A:

what are you missing? We made out okay, The light is not the best to install, from the perspective of attaching the little wires with balls on the end. Its a pain, no doubt. We dubbed it the divorce light. I LOVE it in my bathroom. My husband HATED installing it.

      • A:

I don't know of a video, either. It's not necessarily difficult to install - it's more tedious than anything because there are so many individual pendants that you have to clip on to the inside of the light base. It's beautiful when it's done.

      • A:

My electrician installed but I put together the and installed the crystals. No problems at all.

      • A:

I assembled it and our electrician had no trouble installing it . Casts an interesting pattern on the walls.

    • Q:

"Can you use this chandelier in a small closet?"

      • A:

Sure! I don't see why not ...it is flush and pretty bright. Not vey tall. It would definitely jazz up any space.

      • A:

If it's a small walk-in closet, I think it would look great! If it's a very small closet (fitting 10 jackets only or something), the light might be a bit too large.

      • A:

Absolutely. It doesn't take too much space and would elevate the glamour. Good luck!

      • A:

This ended up being larger than I originally thought it would be. It's a beautiful light, and ended up working ok in the room I put it in, but I have a large walk in closet and feel this would be overpowering in there. So I wouldn't recommend it in a small walk in closet.

      • A:

I put one in my SMALL closet and it looks fabulous! I get compliments on it all the time! I just use 20 watt bulbs in it so it's not too bright.

      • A:

Against code to have a any light fixture with exposed bulbs 😩. I know because I wanted one in my closet. Fire hazard

      • A:

      • A:

        We hired an electrician. :/

      • A:

You attach it by using the two screws that came in package.

    • Q:

"I bought 2 of these lights, the bulb that came with it, gets very hot. Exactly what size bulb does this take and is it a regular bulb?"

      • A:

Mine gets very hot too. I just bought my bulbs at the grocery store.

      • A:

I have the same light. My electrician that installed it said to get LED bulbs. I got them and they are brighter and there is no heat. The LED bulbs are more expensive but worth it.

      • A:

I use 40 watt candle bulbs and they work fine.

      • A:

No I don't believe that it can. One thing you should know, the assembly of this light is an effort. That said it is really a pretty light!!!

      • A:

I agree with Kacie. Beautiful light. I love it so much that I want to place more of them throughout the house. Hard to position the flush mount and not swag capable. The base doesn't look decorative to pull off the swag look. Sorry.

      • A:

No this item can't be swagged. It is flush to the ceiling but really a lovely light. I agree with the others it did take a little effort to assemble and mount, but worth it.

      • A:

No it cannot. It is a flushed mount. I got this for my daughter and she loves it. It is very pretty.

      • A:

Hi Simi, I recommend Attaching the wires that hold the crystal balls to the light and only attaching the balls once the light is installed. If you attached the balls prior to install the light will be too heavy to handle. The balls are pretty easy to clip on if the wires are already hooked in prior to the install.

      • A:

No it has to be flush mounted.

"No instructions came with my light. Do I attach the crystals before installation? Please advise."

      • A:

the installation is basic, if you have ever put up a fixture before. It is up to you as to when to attached the crystals - my suggestion is to add them before install, as many as you can away from the areas where the screws will be.

      • A:

We did it after because of weight & clanging. Great looking

      • A:

Good afternoon, We purchased this very same fixture, and we opted to install all of the crystals after we hung the light. It is tedious work, but only takes about 30-45 minutes, and we could clean each one ((to remove our fingerprints) as we put them on. This is a very nice light fixture for the price! So much so, that we purchased a second one for our living room. You will not be disappointed and your guests will never believe how little you paid for it!

      • A:

Yes, definitely. It takes quite a bit of time so you want to do when it is not overhead.

      • A:

Hi fiona, you will have to put the crystals on before you install it. It is a bit tedious but just be patient, maybe get a "helper" and it will go by quickly. Also, you might want to polish of the crystals with the white cloth gloves they provide to get rid of any smudges after you have installed the light, it will sparkle so beautifully! It is an absolutely gorgeous light and you will Love it. Hope that helps!

      • A:

I installed after and it was NOT EASY. I suggest attach as many as you can before. Install was a pain but I love the lamp. Enjoy...

      • A:

I assembled the crystal links first (without installing them on the chandelier). Also note the different baggies of crystals.... do the ones with the mini rings with one small teardrop at the end of the link. These links should have a total of 11 crystals and there should be a total of 60 strands. I've attached a close up picture of the remaining crystals to help you. Good luck!

      • A:

Please put the chandelier together before you hang it up. It makes the process much easier! Placing the crystals on can be time consuming. hope that this helps you!

      • A:

I agree with Fiona. Would be more difficult to attach after installation as you would be working overhead.

      • A:

I installed the light first, then added the crystals. Much easier that way since it's hanging and you can see where each one attaches

      • A:

Hook the fixture/wiring up first, connect crystal balls with hook separately; then attach hooks (with crystal balls) to fixture. Beautiful item...

      • A:

From memory, we did it before mounting- also wore gloves to reduce fingerprints- b careful or u can scratch the metal- b patient

      • A:

We attached crystals before installing. Attaching the crystals are a bit tedious and would have been more so if we had to do it after installation. Its a great fixture - Enjoy!

      • A:

Yes. You can't hang crystals after light is installed. Use a light touch when inserting crystal through base and folding back wire. It's fragile.

      • A:

Do it after you screw it to the ceiling. It's real crystal so beware.

The white shade is pretty and I would definitely put it on. It completes the look!

I have the chandelier in a large bedroom, so I believe it will be bright enough for a small kitchen. However, It would not be sufficient for me, as I like a kitchen with task lighting, light over where I'm working. You don't give the size of the kitchen, and your idea of a small kitchen may not be the same as mine. The shadows would not be distracting and it is lovely. You did say main source of lighting, so if you have under-cabinet lights or additional can lighting, it should work.

      • A:

Hi Donna, I have this in my bathroom and love it. It gives off a ton of light which is what I wanted for putting on make-up. In fact, I have it on a dimmer switch because it's that bright! Hope that helps.
